GameBoy/GBC/GBA/DS/3DS and VirtualBoy Games are excluded from this discussion,
because the cases I have in mind for them will be similar to DS Cases.
This thread is about Nintendo Carts for my upcoming custom UGC-Size Cases.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I only have one Famicom Game Cart at the moment:

Cart Size: 108 x 69

I don't have any Famicom Game Manuals yet.
Are Famicom Manual Sizes standardized?

I've seen a number of different sized, and shaped, Famicom Carts online.
What is the tallest Famicom Game Cart, and what's the shortest?

Was there a Cheat Device, like the Game Genie, released for the Famicom, or any other weird carts?
I'd like to try to design a single case that can support all the Famicom Cart variants, if possible.

Here are the NES Carts & Manuals I have set aside for the Game Case Prototyping Phase:

If I'm missing any Cart or Manual Variants, other than the Game Genie Codebook, please let me know.

I only have one Super Famicom Cart Photographed & Measured at the moment:

Cart Size: 128 x 87

I also have Seiken Densetsu 3.
Are the dimensions of the pack-in printed materials (Manual, and so on) the same for all SFC Carts?

I'm going to pick up a Super GameBoy 2 this week.
Are there any other non-standard shaped carts for the SFC?

Super Nintendo Carts:

Manual Size:
Do the above pictured items cover all of the Manuals and Carts made for the SNES?

*If yall could post the dimensions of Posters and Maps that came with your SNES Games,
that'd be great.
I only need the Width and Height of them, when they are folded up.

And that brings us to... Nintendo 64
Here are the the three carts I'm using in my case templates:

I would love to know about any other non-standard Carts, Cheat Devices, and Memory Cards,
if they differ from what's shown above.

The n64 Manual I'm using with the n64 Game Case Template is from Super Mario 64.

What Size/Shape Carts do homebrewers use and/or prefer?
This goes for all of the systems mentioned above.

All Measurements are in Millimeters.

Third party memory cards for the N64 came in many different sizes. I had these 4 just sitting in front of me as I was reading this.

I don't have an easy way to measure these but just a rough estimate: the smallest is same size as the official one at 37mm and the biggest is 62mm.

The BIOS cart for the Super Famicom's Satellaview addon looks to have almost the exact same mold as the Japanese Super Gameboy, so its dimensions should be the same:

The only other weird cart thing I'm aware of for the SFC is the Sufami Turbo

Measured my two SFC manuals, they're both coming in at about 150mm tall and 85mm wide. Slight variation (Zelda is closer to 86 wide and Tenchi Muyo is more like 84), but essentially the same

Confirmed Performance brand N64 memory card is 62mm tall

Seymour, what measurement unit are you using for these carts? Its obviously not inches, so I was thinking mm or cm.

If you want to include more recent additions, there's the RetroPort and RetroGen by retro-bit.

I believe the base mold is modified from an SFC cart, so it should be the same width and thickness. I measure 12.5cm wide, 1.8cm thick and 7.4cm high on the RetroPort. I don't have a RetroGen, but I imagine it is similar.

EDIT: Here's someone's comparison pic on the RetroGen http://anerdoccurrence.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/retrogen_compare.jpg

All Measurements are in Millimeters.

I welcome all new cart styles.
This also applies to all other retro consoles.

I have both  :)

It's kinda hard to tell from the pic but the RetroGen is about 2mm shorter. I'm guessing that is due to how much room is needed to put the cart on top of each one.

For NES you're missing the Stadium Events (same size is for Athletic World at least) type maual which is smaller version of the big manual (I have it some where so I'll measure it today).
I'll measure SNES poster too, but I think they're all same size.

All super Famicom manuals I've so far encountered are same size.

For famicom there are at least 2 (probably 3) manual size,
One of the Koei carts is almost twice the height of normal carts.

There are these character memory cards.

There kinda big and dumb though, probably not worth  adding support.

There are probably more than a dozen NEScart variations.  But, it's probably not huge that you account for every single one. I DO think that including the Tengen and Code Masters cart types would be important though, since they're quite common.

Also, the BSX cart is thicker thang the Super GB. Won't fit in a single UGC at all. I'll measure it later.

Looks like about 25mm thick on the BSX cart.

For the NES, there was the Aladdin Deck Enhancer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aladdin_Deck_Enhancer

also some of the unofficial carts were weird sizes and shapes but they should all be close to a standard US cart as they all had to fit in the NES.

EDIT: I know there is another one of these type of addons out there for I think the Sega Genesis but I can't remember the name.

For code masters they seem to have 2 carts

Pal carts

I saw one of these in a local store, they are almost exactly the same as NES carts in shape

For SNES, there's Super Noah's Ark 3D.  I don't have it, so I can't measure it, but it's an odd bugger...
