I've got Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Mario's Picross made into 3DS case covers. Mario's Picross on the site is not the real USA retail cover. I've got the real one here in Box.

Here's the link to my 3DS case covers:

Good job on the cover for Tiny Toon Adventures: Wacky Sports, larryinc64! I have over 30 Game Boy Advance games all complete in box. I'm going to be scanning them and uploading them to my raw scans folder here: https://app.box.com/s/fey6ay52bu2nhorhrisl
I just uploaded raw scans for a Game Boy game that is not on here. It's Bo Jackson: Two Games in One.

  • Coffee... What would I do without you?
This is a pretty banging idea. If I didn't get my DS cases for free or wasn't nearly finished my want list for GB, GBC, and GBA games, then I would have definitely done this!

Has anyone tried automating this?  For example in delphi, just make a new form with 2 images and a go button, then come code like this:
Code: [Select]
procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject);
Var
  TempBitmap : TBitmap;
  TempJpeg : TJPEGImage;
begin
  TempJpeg := TJPEGImage.Create;
  TempBitmap := TBitmap.Create;

  TempJpeg.LoadFromFile('Template.jpg');
  TempBitmap.Assign(TempJpeg);
  Image1.Picture.Bitmap := TempBitmap;
  TempJpeg.LoadFromFile('Test.jpg');
  TempBitmap.Assign(TempJpeg);
  Image2.Picture.Bitmap := TempBitmap;
  Image1.Picture.Bitmap.Canvas.CopyRect(Rect(2070,0,3221,1370),Image2.Picture.Bitmap.Canvas,Rect(2041,0,3260,1370));
  Image1.Picture.Bitmap.Canvas.CopyRect(Rect(164,0,1535,1370),Image2.Picture.Bitmap.Canvas,Rect(0,0,1535,1370));
  Image1.Picture.Bitmap.Canvas.CopyRect(Rect(1535,0,1686,1370),Image2.Picture.Bitmap.Canvas,Rect(1535,0,1724,1370));

  Image1.Refresh;
  Image1.Picture.Bitmap.SaveToFile('Output.bmp');
end;
It'll lose the drop shadows of the template, unless there was a drop shadow in the doner image, in that case the drop shadow gets streached.  The biggest issue with the code above would be it's using window's native GDI commands, so that copyrect uses a per-pixel streach, very ugly and very nasty.  You'll see some issues in the images looking like dark vertical lines until that was changed. It'll also chop off any "pop ups" (Insert bobbit joke for older folks) but with some tweaks it could do a pretty fair job.

Working on a NTSC over now.

@Ozzy
I have not automated this, mostly because I do a lot of touch ups to the covers I do. Not quite sure how to in Photoshop as well, I think it is possable.

I wish something like that was around, would make things easier.

I used a combonation of the PAL cover here, and the NESC images on Moby. Games. I used the moby cover to fill in the gaps on the front around the ESRB and Only For banner.
On the back I added TMs to the Pokemon names, and "Of America Inc." to the copyright, and changed the catalog code to "BPNE" amung other things.

These are just resizes of the existing ones, so any issues in them are still here, I didn't clean them up.  And I can not be 100% sure the size is right, no 3DS cases to make sure I have the right size for a 300 DPI image.  Last thing, since some of the covers used overlapping graphics, I just did a streach of the whole front cover.  One of the other guys could help if you need "cleaned" covers, if they have time.

If there are any missing (there are some) then I didnt see a premade cover for the game.  I just wanted to give my little program a dry run before I post on my blog and let people here try it.
