All the covers I made are listed on the second post of this thread, I have around 40 covers so far. I have not finished the list above yet, will do soon.

Second post? Why have a second post? I don't think the average person's going to bother to research that there's a second post. I had no clue as I just skimmed the tread for covers I wanted. None the less, each cover took 5 minutes. It's not like exhausting work.  Anyway, good template.

I got my cases at ebay from this seller: http://myworld.ebay.com/californialove714/. I payed $35 shipped for 50 cases. It's a little bit cheaper than the site above, if people don't mind buying from ebay.

Those don't look like they fit gameboy games (the cartridge slot it too high)

First page, second post. I just wanted the template post and my Cover List post separate. TyrannicalFascist's Master list is right under that too.

Mine took a little longer than 5 minutes  ;D I redrew the logo on the spine so it was easier to read on a shelf, and I did a lot of touch ups.
I'm going to update the template eventually to ad Japan GB games and Million Seller GB games.

I was thinking of adding spine company logos to help them be consistent, what logos should I put in?
I so far am planing:
Sega
Konami
Capcom
Jaleco
Rare

Larry, I would recommend Sega, Konami, Capcom. Rare was owned by Nintendo, so the default Nintendo spine logo is fine. Most likely a Rare game would have the Rare logo on the front cover.  Jaleco is meh?

@ Larry

Some corrections/suggestions for your 3DS covers

Castlevania: The Adventure = The front cover’s dimensions seem shorter compared to your other 3ds covers? Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. Double check that.

Castlevania Legends (GB) = Back cover, bottom right, the text that includes  “Ltd. All rights reserved, etc.” is a little too close to the border, any way to bump everything a little higher?

Donkey Kong Land 3 : Capitalize the complete name of the animal companion, for example, “Squitter the spider”, should be Squitter the Spider. Do the same for the rest of the animals.

Dr. Mario (GB) = On the front cover, the words that begin with “Dr. Mario is coming…” are really hard to see because of the contrast, anyway you modify that?

Game & Watch Gallery 2 = Back cover, the top screenshots (grey ones) look really fuzzy? Can anything be done about that?

Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (GB) = Back cover, Change DeDeDe to Dedede (first paragraph).

Mario Pinball Land (GBA) = Back cover, the ONLY FOR is too close to the top border, move it down a little?

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the back cover’s text seems a little fuzzy?

Super Mario Land 1 = Back cover, Hungry sharks should be hungry sharks. Why capitalize the H? “inthe air” should be in the air, add a space.

Super Mario Land 2 = Back cover, change Flower, it's misspelled. Change “ballery” to battery.

You have two Donkey Land (GB) covers, the one that doesn’t have the “I” in the spine is the better one.

In your 3DS folder, outside the subfolders, you have a Quicktime file showing a picture of a template that is 39MB, what is the purpose of this file if you have the same template in the template folder?

If you can't do all of these repairs, then focus more importantly on Super Mario Land 1 and 2, those spelling errors are an eyesore.

@Tyrannical

May I suggest you make a thread about your work on your spines? You are very talented with custom spine work, maybe dedicate a thread for all your spine work like all the other crack artists dedicate a thread for their work?

Do you mind if I look over your covers and see if I see any mistakes so i can give you some feedback? I don't know much about editing covers but I got a set of eyes lol!

@Larry, Tyrannical, Rockin

Is there any way to convince the Administrators/Mods to have your 3DS covers in the official database?

And it would sound silly if they said no because of quality control standards, because there is a shitload of crappy covers GB/GBC/GBA in the official database that had no business of being approved (And yes I know that everyone says there were no high standards in the old days, but the poor quality covers are still in the database regardless…)

Anything we can do to convince them? Anything I can do?  I want to support you guys  in this 3DS cover endeavor anyway I can, but I don’t have any means of providing raw scans and the like.

General Questions

What produces better image quality, a PNG file format or JPG? I heard JPG is better for photographs and such, so that can applies to covers? Tyrannical and Larry, your covers are in PNG format though.

Does it matter from what program you print the covers from? Big difference in quality/dimensions if you use PhotoShop or Paint?

Are you guys using Legal, Standard or A4 paper to print your 3DS covers?

It's the same, just checked

I could maybe move the back up slightly.
Quote
Donkey Kong Land 3 : Capitalize the complete name of the animal companion, for example, “Squitter the spider”, should be Squitter the Spider. Do the same for the rest of the animals.
Way it was on the original box
Quote
Dr. Mario (GB) = On the front cover, the words that begin with “Dr. Mario is coming…” are really hard to see because of the contrast, anyway you modify that?
Not realty, Yellow text on Yellow BG was a bad choice at Nintendo's fault
Quote
Game & Watch Gallery 2 = Back cover, the top screenshots (grey ones) look really fuzzy? Can anything be done about that?
I could not find better B&W screenshots for that game
Quote
Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (GB) = Back cover, Change DeDeDe to Dedede (first paragraph).
Way it was on the original box
Quote
Mario Pinball Land (GBA) = Back cover, the ONLY FOR is too close to the top border, move it down a little?
I forgot I even posted that one, It's that high up on the original box
Quote
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the back cover’s text seems a little fuzzy?
It was not re-typed, If you want to retype it, I can make it better.
Quote
Super Mario Land 1 = Back cover, Hungry sharks should be hungry sharks. Why capitalize the H? “inthe air” should be in the air, add a space.
Super Mario Land 2 = Back cover, change Flower, it's misspelled. Change “ballery” to battery.
I'll fix it eventually, I still have the uncompressed Photoshop files, should not be haed

?, There is no difference between the two, other than the I on the spine

Its not a Quicktime file, It's a Photoshop file, Its the main template I use, the "Simple Templates" are for people who can't open the Photoshop file, I need to update them with a transparent back.

I have not submitted many to the site, I got a couple touch ups posted in the GBA section in the past, I just have to upload them, It's a pain to submit 50+ covers, I'll start today with a few covers, It also takes a while to get them up.

PNG>JPG. JPG compresses the image and lowers the quality, but also lowers the file size. It's not a big problem with huge images though.

Photoshop>Paint. Photoshop has better tools for image restoration, rescaling, Color Correction Ect. Gimp works well too, and Gimp is free, I use Photoshop CS3, outdated but works well

Have not printed any yet, still need to buy cases  ;D

My list of logos is so far:
Sega
Konami
Capcom
Jaleco
Rare

Most of these are alredy made, like Rare and Konami, I'm going to put in as many logos as posable to make cover making a bit quicker.

Ah you're right, for a second I thought the barcode on the "I" cover one was too low, but yeah they look the same

That's weird when I opened it, it opened in QuickTime :O I thought it was going to be a video.

Sometimes computers open files in weird ways if they do not know what to do with it.  :D

Thanks! Not long after I first joined here, I started doing DS spines and admittedly hijacked someone else's custom spine topic. I may start my own topic then, especially if it will help spread the 3DS case work beyond a single thread.

Sure. Though 99% of my covers are just covers from the site I converted in the new template and made a new spine. I didn't actually make any of the covers otherwise.

I'd certainly like to. I have no real idea how to get them to do it though. I agree that the current standards don't match all of what's up there (what's up with the "hand-drawn" Game and Watch Gallery 3 cover?). Hopefully we can get them up though.

What he said ^^^. Also, saving from Photoshop, I've had trouble saving to JPG and having the file keep the right dimensions.

I actually use  a free program called IrfanView. I've had it for years. I've had no problems printing PNGs, and if the dimensions are coming up wrong on a JPG, I can have it resize before printing.

Legal, though I'm probably not using the best.

@Tyrannical - are you talking about my Game and Watch gallery 3 cover? I thought I did a good job with hiding that 3 in the spine... guess not haha!

I'm going to work on my covers and try to make them a bit high quality (color, blur, and such.)

Is there a way for me to be able to have a link to my covers on the first page for people?

I think he was talking about this cover
I'm buying a CIB copy of that soon for scans, along with Robopon, I do not have it anyway, and I wat the manual for Robopon, and a second copy would be good for a episode of a gameplay channel I'm starting with a friend. They sell for around $15-$20.

Sure, make a list like the one I have in my post, And I'll toss it in there.

Wondering if anyone was still doing 3DS cases for GB and GBC games. If anyone is, can someone take a crack at these for me or if they already exist can someone post a link to them? I'd be so grateful. Thanks in advance.  :D

:-\ Nah I haven't had a chance to yet. My parents have been using the computer with the scanner attached for the majority of the time I've been home this week. I know I'm busy tomorrow and possibly Thursday. I can try for maybe Thursday, if not Friday or Saturday.
