Atari 5200 Problems

I recently bought an Atari 5200 that was unused. They used the joysticks and switch box with another system. The console looks perfect. The cartridge slot looks new...no dust or scratches at all. It still has the protective film on it too. So i used one of the rca to rf adapters and hooked it up. I get a beautiful picture. No artifacts or static at all. But....i have no sound. Just a lot of buzzing. Any ideas what the problem could be? Is it the Pokey chip?
Next, i have two controllers that i rebuilt myself about five years ago with the gold dot kits. They worked fine for years. Now it seems the joystick itself works. The start, pause, and reset buttons work. But i the keypad buttons to change difficulty are not working. Any ideas on what this problem is?
I really like playing on the 5200, but it's about to become more trouble than it's worth. I would appreciate any help on these matters.

The folks at Atari Age would be the the best people to ask as several members there are good at modding the consoles.

I was going to ask there but they charge now just to sign up for the forums. I'm not paying just to ask a question that they may or may not have an answer for. I took apart the joysticks and cleaned them good and they seem to be working again. I still need to find someplace that does repairs though for the console.

You sure about that? I know you have to pay for a subscription but not for posting on the forums.

EDIT: Yep, you don't have to pay for a subscription to join, just don't click on any of the options when you register. I've been at AA for nearly a decade and it's not the type of place where you have to pay just to say something.
