Wii mini is just to collect.

I wanted to get a blue wii last year during the holiday season and held off and now I can't find one for a cheap price in my area.  I have a red wii that is soft modded with a hard drive and I play all my games through the USB loader and use it for Nes and snes emulalors when I just want to play a quick game of something old school.

My girlfriend got me the mini as she knew I wanted one just to have but that I wouldn't spend my $$ on one.

She also got me the nes games.  My games are alphabetized and she took the time to go through my collection and then find some games on kijiji and at a a local flea market that I didn't already have.  I knew something was up because my nes games all of a sudden were not flush with the front end of the shelf and I'm pretty anal about that.  It was still a surprise as to which games I was getting though.

Up to 404 Licensed NES games now.   Hoping for a full set minus stadium events some day.  Going to be a while before I get there though.  Still have alot of expensive titles to get.

So it took an hour and a half for my Wuu (I'm calling I that, deal with it) to "update" last night right out of the box, then I go to start Netflix 5 minutes ago and it tells me that it's updating again. Ahhhhhhh, WTF?!

Not to mention that navigating menus and anything web-based is like using a 486 with a 28K modem. Why on Earth is it so damned slow?!

Also, the interface is clunky, sloppy, and not much to look at.

And massive amounts of overscan.

Aaaaaaaand it freezes with alarming regularity.

Similar issues I had and similar complaints. The menu load times are flat out unacceptable, at least Iwata addressed the community stating a patch is in the works to fix this. Also, it's just as bad as the PS3 with everything needing updates every time you wish to use it.

To be honest, call it sheer lack of games I wish to play, lack of wow factor or even lack of achievement system (damn you nintendo) but my WiiU just collects dust at the moment.

My update also took forever and agree about the ridonculously slow load times.

I also can't see why anyone would buy one either.  Mine was a gift so I'm stoked to have it but after I beat Mario and mess around with NintendoLand a bit I don't see anything else worth buying at the moment.

I was actually quite torn as to if I wanted to set it up last night because I just started a new game of Chrono Trigger a few days ago and wanted to continue playing that as well.

Once Ni No Kuni comes out I'll playing that for the rest of the Winter.

Hopefully some good games come out for it in the future.  I'd like to see Nintendo get back to the SNES days where they dominated and had amazing RPGs.  The Wii was quite lacking in RPGs until the very end of it's life.

I really don't understand why you guys don't like the Wii U, so far, after I updated on launch night, I've had absolutely no problems with it.
The loading times are fine, and Netflix is way faster then the Wii's.  All I've been playing lately is the Wii U.  I've had it freeze on me like once.
Have you guys bothered to pick up Zombi U? Or even some third party titles? Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed 3.  It sounds like you guys have only played Nintendo Land and NSMBU....

i haven't played much on my Wii-U yet - not blown away by Nintendo Land - controls on the games i have played so far are all the reason i hate gaming on the ipad.  Certainly nothing so far that is as much fun as Wii Sports was at launch.

I do like it though.  The system itself looks nice, and graphically a huge step forward from the Wii.  Looking forward to some decent games without gimmicky controls, and I hope Nintendo doesn't allow all the shovelware that the Wii was plagued with.

I loved the Wii when it launched, and the PS3 gets most of my play time, but my last 3 new gen consoles (wii-U, 3DS and PS Vita) have not done much for me.

The games aren't what bothers me, it's the busted-ass UI.

Also, Netflix runs WAAAAAY faster on both the 360 and PS3 as an FYI.  Just makes the Wii look like the outdated piece of hardware that it's always been.  Once you're used to running it on an actual current gen console or a PC, then using it on the Wii makes you wanna cry (not to mention lack of HD output on the Wii).

I have a 360, just never bothered to put Netflix on it because I already had it on the Wii.  And what exactly is wrong with the UI? It seems fine to me, especially compared to the mess that is the Xbox Dashboard.  This is all a matter of opinion though.
Please, explain.

Everything from the speed at which things load, the stupid floaty bubbles that aren't labeled, there are too many "levels" of menu (i.e. I have to click through a zillion pages to change one tiny setting, then there's no quick way back other than hitting the home button), the stupid Miis all over the place and the idiotic thought bubbles that are always floating over their heads, pointless ability to switch the gamepad and TV screens around (just give me all the links on the pad and a nice GUI on the TV so I can easily navigate (Just because there's the ability to switch between both, doesn't mean it needs to, Nintendo), the fact that it WAY overscans on my 720p TV and there's absolutely no way to correct it even though that option is available in a few of the widgets (like the shop), and the list goes on.

It feels incredibly sloppy to me and about as intuitive as I imagine it would be to build a 747 without any sort of instruction.

The 360, while full of ads and crap at this point, is still incredibly simple to navigate and find what you want IMO.  Also, it doesn't spend any time loading what amount to the simplest of menu options.  I don't understand why the Wuu is ALWAYS loading something.  Is there like 256KB of RAM or something?

Agree with most of wiggy's comments (apart from 360 ui being good, i hate it) One to add to the list.  Even though it asked me what language I want the interface in, the shop defaults to French (I live in France but I'm British) - it even comes up with a message to say my requested language is not available in that region.  If that's the case, why give me the choice.

Have zombi U, its not bad

Most of the third party titles I have and have beaten for other systems (as they already came out for them) so no real appeal to pay 60$ on games I already have and beaten, including assassins creed 3

I received black ops 2 for Wii U as a gift, the amount of people online is a joke compared to pc/ps3/360 so finding different match types usually doesnt happen, shooters are not really  my thing so if I really wanted to play this I would get it for the more popular system which has more of my friends playing.

I am not trying to shun the wiiU, I just think that it was overhyped due to wii's success, the launch window games are meh with a ton of ports and there are some issues with the software like the loading times and random screwups. My system has yet to lock up but many of times it would error during an update etc. Also, ive said it a zillion times and its a personal negative, no fekin achievement system, I am crazy invested in trophies etc and love them and when I can get the same game for any system now I will end up picking the one that has the achievements/trophies versus wii u as it really doesn't change the gameplay much.... yet

Nintendo needs to release 1st party games and fix their software, and I mean asap. NSMB U is a "get ya by" game for now

Agree with the above post.

The third party games are mostly ports that are cheaper on other systems because they have been out for a while and from reading reviews of the Wii U versions the game pad features aren't worth buying a game again for or paying more for said game on Wii U.

I'm a huge Nintendo fan but from what they have revealed so far for future Wii U titles there isn't much coming that would make me spend $$ on the the console right now.

The only other title I'm remotely interested in is besides Mario is Scribblenauts.

My gut is telling me that it will just be First Party / Shovelware game console all over again and that saddens me  :'(.

I loved the Wii but all I played on it were first party games, ports from other systems (i.e. RE4 and Okami) and the RPGs that it got towards the end of it's life which Nintendo didn't even want to bother localizing.

Sorry guys, I was so busy preparing for Christmas that I missed this thread! Lots of cool gifts so far!

I had a very nostalgic christmas...

I received:

- Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for Wii U (this game is a lot of fun, surprisingly)

- Scribblenauts Unlimited for Wii U (also a lot of fun - I'm making it my mission to create all the Godzilla kaiju)

- Old-school Batman: The Animated Series figures (Infrared Batman, Insect Body Mr. Freeze, The Joker in trenchcoat)

- Old-school Playmates Star Trek Figures (Picard, Hugh Borg, Kirk from TMP, Seven of Nine as Borg)

- Super Metroid (never played it, so now I can!)

- Mario is Missing SNES (best stocking stuffer ever)

- The Ultimate Star Wars Action Figure Collection by Steve Sansweet (definitely the best visual guide to all Star Wars figures from 1977 to 2012...awesome)

- The last 2 issues of Nintendo Power  :'(

- Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition Limited Edition Collector's VHS Set (mostly got for the mini posters, art book, film strip and behind the scenes VHS to transfer to DVD)

- Entertainment Earth Back to the Future Part II DeLorean, with hover conversion (very awesome, scaled with my 3 3/4" figures, has lights, sounds, and a lever underneath to rotate the wheels to hover mode)

- A friend got me a USB 3.0 PCI Express card so I can use USB 3.0 external hard drives for my movie-making projects faster.

- A few misc. stocking stuffers, like Knex Mario on a Motorcycle and some little gashapon-like ball with Mario Kart figure inside.

- My sister and I also got two presents meant to be shared - LEGO lord of the Rings for Wii, and a LEGO Hobbit Bag End set.

All very cool stuff. I got my Dad a Nexus 7 that he really wanted and my sister got an iPad. One of my friends will be getting a late gift from me in the form of the Hyrule Historia book, once it comes out next month.

EDIT: Oh and of course I have a nice little package coming from wiggy too!
