XBOX 360 power cord
Deadpool:
hey!
i have a problem with my xbox 360 power supply it needs a special power cord that has a little hole in the upper middle like this: http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-3-Prong-Power-Microsoft-Systems/dp/B0052N0P8C/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1356243750&sr=1-3&keywords=xbox+360+power+cord
but finding one of those is getting very annoying, the question is, can i mod a regular pc power cord to fit in the power supply like this?

it wont harm the console or the power suply? i mean is just a piece of plastic but is better to be sure.
thanks !
scarmullet:
It wont fit, strangely...and that vinyl is there for a reason, best not to tamper with that.
I do not know where you got your Xbox PSU (its really a GFCI, not a PSU), but all the ones I have, look like a proper PC power cable should fit, but the ground pin is missing on the female side. Its best to track down a proper one. Basically, the official coard is wired in such a way, where the ground pin is used, if you tried to use a PC one, you would not have the benefits of ground, and your 360 GFCI will be prone to shorts and maybe fire in a surge.
wiggy:
What? The ground isn't missing on the PC plug? ???
Modify a PC cable if you want. There's literally nothing to the notched Xbox cable other than it being a proprietary piece of equipment as a result of the damned notch much like the non-grounded cables that Sony often uses which have a rounded and squared side. Same thing applies with those. Shave em down if you want to use them for something else.
Deadpool:
thanks for the answers, i have another question, in my research i have seen some people who mod the brick instead of the power cord, which is more appropriated to do?
Mick Dundee:
i would hack up the cord WAY before the brick
cords are much cheaper
