I learned from a friend who's into guns that we have HUGE local gun conventions and that pretty much any state or federal regs are essentially thrown out the window.  He says you can buy rifles, shotguns, handguns, etc essentially without any of the rules and requirements that would normally apply.

^^^ You could walk in and buy a handgun.

I know Michigan just did the same thing. They repealed a law requiring background checks even at gun shows, where unregistered weapons are sold. Scary.

side note Austria and Germany make some of the best firearms in the world.

Jup that is absolutely right. Could be due to our kind of horrible history. You surely all know that germany/austria not always were those friendly, safe and peaceful countries we are now.

I lived in Germany for 10 years and the way people react toward war and violence there is very much the antithesis of their historical record. They may make great weapons, but they rarely use them. It is like their entire military budget is for R&D.

I guess I should apologize.  I did not intend for this thread to turn into a gun control thread.   

On another note and this is all I will say on it is, CT is one of the strictest states in the nation in gun control.  I have a Glock 22 (.40 cal)  It took alot of money training and waiting to get my concealed carry permit.  Assault rifles are banned in CT unless you purchased before 1994.  I grew up with guns in my house from as long as I could remember.  I learned from an early age about the respect for guns and the safety and rules.  First gun I shot I was 12 or 13.

 I agree.....though Im done watching Fosters...maybe I'll move on to the new box set of Futurama.  Its almost like an addiction clicking on some of the posts on the forums though.

That is exactly what I meant. We learned from big mistakes which were made in very very dark times.
