Hey so I need to replace the battery in my Super Mario World and possibly some other games.. Wiggy-did you ever get around to making that how-to? I don't see it on your blog. |

I totally didn't :-\ Don't have a whole lotta free time anymore, so I won't get to one any time soon either. This looks like a pretty decent writeup though ;) http://m.instructables.com/id/Replacing-a-CR2032-snes-cart-battery/ |

I've done it without issue. You can't surface mount on Sega carts though, and the boards are slightly thicker, making it a bit harder to solder I only mention this because when you try to bend the contacts on the A clips they tend to fall apart. Edit: also found some clips I'm going to be trying out on a few gameboy games. http://www.ebay.com/itm/321177640297?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Edit: Got a lot of cheap chinese CR2032 ($10 for 50) No idea what their life will be but they're surprisingly more consistent in their voltage than some energizers I have. I've been checking each one I use with a multimeter for obvious reasons. Tested some energizer for comparison. I got 2.7v - 3.4v on various energizers. The cheepos all read between 3.0v - 3.3v (probably tested 6 of each brand) Edit 3: I keep doing edits because I don't really Feel like bumping an old post. Maybe I should just add this all to the original post. Anyway, Just did 20 or so battery clip installations. I have a bad habit of installing them for games I'm selling, but not my personal collection. Did 20 in less than 2 hours while watching youtube. :p |

Thanks guys! Don't know when I'll have time to do this, but I'll let you know how it goes. |

Sorry for bringing back a dead topic, but I managed to replace the battery succesfully on my Super Mario All Stars cart. I bought pretty expensive batteries with solding tabs on them, and made it work. I don't ever want to do that again, so I think I'll add batteryholders for my rpgs instead. I haven't seen the 'A' batteries in online shops here, but I think I've seen both B and C ones. Wiggy: How do you make the C-ones fit? I'd really like a small explanation, I don't think I'll need an in-depth guide /edit the distance between the solder points on a snes cart is 18mm right? Then some of the ones in the above picture wouldn't fit at all? /edit 2 https://dx.com/p/battery-holder-for-cr2032-coin-cell-brown-5-pcs-156999 << those are still available and have free shipping to where I live... can anyone confirm these work? someone in the comments says they do, but I want to make sure since it'll probably be like a month before they arrive in the mail... :) |
