I think the most PC saying would simply be to say "Happy Holidays" Given, if I had to pick a religious view I would choose none, suppose the term would be Agnostic, big science geek I am. However, I do still celebrate Christmas but not due to the religious intent but simply because its fun to do and my family and friends do as well. Just about the buying/giving, good food and overall good atmosphere to me. |

--- Quote from: Moviefan2k4 on December 03, 2012, 02:54:52 PM ---My uncle made his point very clear one year, when he was shopping at a local retailer. He told the sales clerk "Merry Christmas", and she replied with "Happy Holidays". He said again, "Merry Christmas", and she said, "We're not allowed to say that." Without another word, he simply walked out, leaving everything behind. According to him, some of the other shoppers overheard the conversation, and clapped for him on his way out the door. --- End quote --- That's a really valid point. When faced with someone who insists that you wish them a Merry Christmas, one should always make sure to appease them, regardless of how it might affect one's employment status, or disagree with one's own beliefs. We should be allowed to assert our beliefs, no matter who it may offend, and in the same stroke, deny some else their own. Bravo! He should probably write a letter to the retailer's president exclaiming his disgust for their current inclusive greeting policy and insist that an exclusive greeting be implemented in its stead. |

I went into WalMart one time and complained to the cashier about them not having any Hanukkah cards and she called me a humbug. If I was actually Jewish I'd have been offended. Oh, and here's my trees |

It's one thing to casually say it but it's another thing to rub into peoples faces. What if he just did not want o say it? If you want people to respect your right to say "Marry X-mas" then do not go attacking people who just want to say happy holidays. With the logic you just said, if someone insists on saying Happy Holidays, you should appease them and say Happy holidays back. |
