Hey all!

Not sure how many people knew this, but I just found out and I love it.  Sonic and Knuckles will fit into a EA sports Genesis case (the really thick ones that housed games like Madden, B.O.B, Super Baseball, Mutant League Hockey, etc.  With some minor modding to the case (two small bits of plastic need to be cut), the cartridge will fit right in.  Anyway, a friend of mine gave me this cover for Sonic & Knuckles and the dimensions are for an EA sports genesis case.  The best part is that EA sports games are really cheap.  I got a copy of some basketball game for 99 cents, I even sold the game back tot he store for 50 cents and just kept the case.

If this is common knowledge, then please forgive my ignorance.  But I just found out about this and am thrilled with it!

Here is the cover itself, presized for an EA sports Genesis case

I've actually seen it done with a regular Genesis case as well, but the EA case makes it a bit easier since it's larger and the games are dirt cheap, so thanks for sharing, I bet someone that didn't know could use this  :D

I tried really hard to get it into a normal case.  I ruined 3 of them trying to figure it out.  No matter what I did the case would bulge and I just didnt like it.  I thought about modding the cartridge itself, but quickly decided against it.  If anyone knows a good way to make it fit in a regular case I would love to hear it!

I fit mine perfectly into a slightly modded regular Genesis case. I just cut out two of the four plastic tabs - it doesn't bulge, and it's quite secure in the case.

I can fourth this...
I also have my copy in a normal Sega clamshell w manual and it fits perfect.

The only issue was I had cut the top tabs on a good case before I checked the rest of them and found one that had the exact tabs already slightly broken.

I'm not sure why I had such a hard time getting mine to fit.  I went back to one of the ones I altered and removed the entire holder and it still feels like it doesnt shut right.  But clearly this is something on my end if everyone else has had success

Nope, tis not just you.  I tried a regular Genesis case for my S&K too.  While it did close, there was a bulge I didn't care much for, so I now use a EA Sports case, which works awesome.
