Here's what I found! These are designed for 8-disc DVD cases.

Like I said, I didn't finish the front on Vol. 2, but started it. I was attempting to remake this Destroy All Monsters cover using images of the actual monsters, or replicas of them.

I included the 1998 US Godzilla as the start of the Millennium series since it prompted Toho to make 2000, it is referenced in GMK, and of course Godzilla fights Zilla in Final Wars. I also put the Rebirth of Mothra Trilogy in the Heisei series since it's somewhat related and fills the extra slots.

The front of each features most of the main monsters in that group of films in a collage I made myself. The back lists the movies and their release years, and shows their original posters. The front and back also have "monster icons" for all the monsters. Some of them I had to make myself, since there is no King Kong icon, and the Mechagodzilla icons are the same for all 3 incarnations. I also tracked down the official "Godzilla" and "Godzilla Junior" icons from the 1998 film and altered one to say "Zilla" for Final Wars. The spines match up to create Godzilla's back and spine fins.

I may want to change them some before completing them (which I'm kind of in the mode to do now). Any suggestions are welcome. I'm also considering using a different form of the "Godzilla" logo, since there have been so many over the years. Just search for the real DVD and especially VHS covers to see how many versions there are! This one is similar to one that was on a lot of packaging and toys in the 90s:

If you're really going to be a completest, don't forgot some of the barely-connected films like "War of the Gargantuas" and "Space Amoeba" :P

I've considered making a separate collection for all of those related Toho films, including those, Rodan, Varan, Mothra, etc.

Looks nice!

On a random note: The store I work at has our rental copy of the 1998 Godzilla categorized in the "International: Asian" section ::)

Haha oh geeze...  ::)

Just throwing this out there. Which of these old Godzilla logos do you guys like:

A. Simitar Entertainment VHS & DVD logo

B. Anchor Bay Entertainment VHS logo

C. Tri-Star VHS logo (vs King Ghidorah, vs Mothra, vs MechaGodzilla II, vs SpaceGodzilla, vs Destoroyah)

D. Misc. logo (Godzilla toys, games, vs Biollante VHS & DVD, some DVDs) - similar to the one I posted above

E. Classic Media DVD logo (same one I currently have in my covers)

I'm partial to A or D, or keeping E. What do you guys think?

Yes! I love Godzilla. I have all of the Millennium series, the Original and a few others. GMK is my all time favorite. I do like Final Wars too, and I thought Godzilla vs Destroyah had some good costume design. Have you seen any Gamera movies? If not, I recommend you buy this: http://www.amazon.com/Trilogy-Guardian-Universe-Revenge-Blu-ray/dp/B005ENCIWG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354602447&sr=8-1

That's King Ghidorah. He actually has three heads, but one is going down-right out of frame there.

dammit!, my search for a cool project name continues...

the only godzilla movie ive seen is the '98 one...

Project name? If you want one based on a Godzilla monster: http://godzilla.wikia.com/wiki/Kaiju

i wasnt looking specifically for a godzilla monster, its just in that pic king ghidorah appeared to have 2 heads, which is what i was looking for seeing as how im doing a similar project to my nes/famicom hybrid...

Well if you wanted to go the Pokémon route, you could call it Ninten-Doduo or some variation of that.  :P

Okay, time to play Optometrist:

"1......or 2.......1......or 2"

On the second one I only roughly cut out the logo. Both can also be any color. If 2, I may rearrange the scenes a little to accommodate. Thoughts?

Okay, as if there weren't enough choices already:

Which one screams "Godzilla" to you guys?

Maybe one option is to have each of the four volumes have a different color logo, and have one logo across all 4 spines... Just not sure which logo to go with.

I'd say logo 1 (previously D). It's got more personality and is more symmetric, which pleases my eyeballs.

Yeah I think you're right. The second logo is more out of nostalgia, but does seem out of place, at least the way I've designed the fronts.

Playing around with them a little, I think I may have each volume have a different colored logo on the front/back to better complement the scene on the front.

For the spine, should I also have 4 different colored logos, or have one logo spanning all 4 spines (and if so, what color)?

GODZILLA DVD COLLECTION RELEASE THREAD

I'll stop making this thread about DVD covers and return to general Godzilla discussion.  ::)

Godzilla vs. Biollante finally came out on Tuesday! Mine's on the way. It's been a while since I've seen it, and all I've seen is a grainy VHS copy.

Never was a fan of the old movies, but the concept is cool. I loved the 1998 film.

Yeah, I just got the Biollante DVD and it's pretty good. It has several language options including newly-translated English subtitles, plus 2 nice behind the scenes featurettes.

And just in time, because I've finished my Godzilla 4-Volume DVD Covers sets!

I think they are much improved over the older ones I posted above.
