So, seeing as I haven't collected NES games in about 10 years, what exactly makes that game so pricey?  Is it really just super rare?

It was a late release game that didnt get very many copies made pretty much, that and its actually a pretty good game.

Literally less than 2 years ago you could of got it around 100$ but after the collecting crazy (and gamechasers episode they found it) the price on it has gotten retarded. To think I have passed it up since like 2005 because I always thought it was nuts to pay 50+ $ on a NES game, now I am a sucker to the market for it was one of the few remaining I was after.

I've always read that it's a pretty cool game, but I know that doesn't make for a $400+ cart ;)  Man, this hobby has become so serious lately.  I'm trying to get every N64 game that I'll ever want while they're dirt cheap.  Who knows when the nostalgia for it will kick in and all of a sudden Blast Corps is worth $150 :-\

I'm just glad I managed to obtain/re-obtain some of the nintendo-published Gamecube titles before they show up in price.

Paper Mario 2 used to be, on average, $15-$20 used, now it's $25-$30 used.

Melee is probaly one of the biggest offenders, as it managed to nearly double in price over the last year.

And don't get me started on Pikmin 2. Yes, the Wii release made it so it doesn't usually exceed MSRP, but the price seems to flip-flop like crazy regardless. A few weeks ago I saw a few complete copies go for $25-$30, now it's back up to the $40ish it was around the time the Wii version came out.

In comparison, the average N64 cartridge is $15-$20 even for stuff like Mario 64 or Donkey Kong 64. Mario Kart 64, the Mario Parties, and Smash 64 are pretty much the most expensive non-Rareware Nintendo games, though Conker still seems to the most expensive. Those are just my Amazon observations, I'm sure the eBay situation is far worse.

Super Princess Peach is still going for around $30 to $40 bucks.

Don't forget Starcraft 64. This is also pretty hefty especially in the PAL version and complete.

Spare Wii Remote and Link's Crossbow was a good trade for Mario Tennis GBC alone. Though the GBA version is superior.
