Picked up a NES R.O.B. with manual and all Gyromite accessories from my local hock shop for $50. Apperently it was buried in the back for years and they just recently dug it out. Everything seems to work great!

Thats another pricey one Im glad I picked up early on. I think I payed $50 for my CIB copy. In great shape too. And what an awesome game!

I tend to just avoid big name GBA games on eBay do this reason. Seems like 75% of the Mario, Pokemon, and RPGs are bootleg :/

That really makes me want to go check and make sure my good games are legit...

Yeah, I flat out refuse to buy GBA games online, thankfully I managed to scoop up all the ones I wanted when "big game retail store" had the buy 2 get 2 free

They all had that wonderful Nintendo logo and seem to be legit!

I regret not picking up Final Fantasy V for $14.99 used at gamestop when they had the B2G2. I was still "Waiting for 3D remakes"... fml.

Anyways, if you haven't, I would highly suggest checking all your GBA/DS cartridges to see if they're bootleg'd. Grab a flashlight or something similar and flash the inside of the cartridge so you can see the green circuitboard. If you see "NINTENDO" in bold white letters, then it's legit. Emphasis on BOLD and WHITE. The FF6 bootleg i got actually had non-bold white font in its circuitboard, so pay careful attention.

Another telltale sign is, if the label is mint and shiny, you can see a printed set of numbers on the lower-right corner of the label. I have GBA games I've owned since 2002 where the labels aren't minty, but the numbers can still be seen... barely. On the FF6 bootleg, the label is nice and shiny to be sure, but the lack of printed numbers give it away.

But yeah, definitely check your GBA cartridges guys. And if you're still buying new ones(Which I wasen't planning too, but you know), definitely try to inquire about it before shipping if possible, and inspect it when received and take pics if needbe to prove if it's a bootleg in order to get a refund.

We are quite lucky in the EU as there practically no bootleg GBA games around here. You're swamped with them in the US....

It's so strange that Crusaders of Centy is so expensive in the US by the way. You can get it's PAL counterpart for 10 to 15 euro anytime here.

I picked up FF4 brand new for 5 bucks at TRU when they closed it out, but like you, I kick myself for not grabbing 5 and 6 when they were cheap(er)

The only games that I own which would be bootleg I either bought new or locally so I KNOW that they're legit (since new is, um, new and the others I could check before purchasing).

The stamped numbers?  Yeah, that's a pretty solid way to check.  However, I have heard of bootlegs starting to fake those too

Ah, gotcha.  At least Amazon is usually pretty solid about helping buyers. I've only had to request a refund a few times, but every time it was taken care of like immediately

Wiggy's pics are really helpful for references. Again, if the letters are thin, it's likely that it's a bootleg. If they're bold, then it's most likely official. Even if it has an oval, you can still check if the letters are thin or bold, it's just a bit more difficult, especially if you try to inspect it with a "flickering" flash-light like the seller did.
