Xbox 360 problems

Ok so I have the Xbox 360 slim. One of the glossy first editions (250 gig I think) and it randomly sounds like its trying to read a disc even if there isn't a disc in it. This causes it to freeze most of the time. Has anyone else had this problem? If you have how did you fix it?

apparently the slims have a major malfunction with the DVD drive.

Check with microsoft
