JDavis's "Modern" style covers (Latest: Perfect Dark | WIP: METAL GEAR!?)
<< < (3/13) > >>
JDavis:
It's very... 90's. At least it's got more personality than the "peeled back paper" they went with for the N64.
JDavis:
Haven't started on the back of this yet... but here's a preview for the first cover I'm putting together in this style ;D

satoshi_matrix:
I don't have a whole lot to add to this, but I seriously lol'd at the random text you used from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

*blows the dust off this thread*

Alright! As a retail employee, the holiday season really slowed my creative juices, but now that we're out of that I think I'm almost done with my first cover!

(Click for the big version)

I haven't typed up a description for the back yet, 'cause I'd like to get input from everyone first, in case I decide to make some big change that effects the space I have for it. I may move the "1 Player" icon somewhere else.

Random thoughts:

I tried to give the front a slight brushed-metallic look, similar to the modern Zelda cases. Compare to previous post, where I hadn't added said elements.

I created pretty much pixel perfect recreations of the screenshots from the original retail box... Then tossed one, and covered up the others with Link's arm

High-res ALttP art is almost non-existent, so both the front and back here use art from the GBA remake.

I think the front has enough swords. Maybe.

If you didn't catch it yourself, the front is basically recreating the Japanese box, with the "ZOMG GOLD" stylings of the US Zelda releases added in, while the spine's use of text instead of the Zelda logo matches basically all of the releases since at least Wind Waker.
SasoriSoren:
Looks beautiful man. I may cover mine in this just to show it off a bit. ;D
