I can't understand why some people seem to make it a personal quest to thwart such things, as if it's somehow personally hurting them ???

Sorry to hear about what happened yesterday. It seems the internet has some people who derive pleasure solely from hurting others as running things for everyone. I don't understand why they would have a problem with your work unless they were really insecure about themselves.

Don't despair though, this is just a small pot hole on the road of success for RCG.  :)

There's a chance that those who felt hurt are no other than reproductions sellers trying to take down the competition. The usual business' dirty tactics.

I dont get all of the reproduction cart hate.

I personally think its cool, and love seeing people take a professional approach to it.   and No..... flash carts aren't as fun.

I think it would be cool if someone would make custom Printed Circuit Boards, and shells.  That would make eprom insertion easy.

That way the seller would not be selling any licensed material, and fans wouldnt have to search out lame sports games to use as donors.

People have. RetroUSB and TWG both use 100% donor free parts for their NES games, it's just very expensive to set up. For the record though, it's still selling licensed material.

^^^ my exact response.

We're looking into TSOP and custom boards, but it's mondo pricey.  Not something that would happen any time soon, that's for sure.

I was talking about the board and case only no licensed game.  (Unless by licensed material you mean the lockout chip)

I dont know how the ciclone multi region lockout chip works or what part of Nintendo's original programing is used in it.

However Retro USB no longer makes reproductions (only homebrew), and *beep* uses donor carts last I checked.

+++++Replaced reproduction site name with *beep* to comply with forum rules.++++

The licensing is only relevant when it comes to the content being sold on the cart.   Popping chips with licensed games on them out of donors isn't any sort of problem.

Last time you checked you would have been right. NES boards are now 100% new. SNES is still donor at the moment.

Busy busy busy!  Can't keep up :/

Wrapped (or am wrapping) up a ton of portable mods this week.  Still have quite a few to go, but at least the majority are done or just about done.

All of a sudden micro mods are hot. Wonder why ;) There's a metallic brown one in the back there that's gonna get a Pikachu faceplate and brown buttons. Should look really nice when it's all done. The brown kicks ass. It's a really mature color in my opinion and has a good amout of metallic in it. I'll have more pics when it's done, obviously.  Wrapping up the Megaman micro as well and will be starting another custom this week for a customer.

The NGP will be getting some white stripes a la MVS arcade graphic scheme.

And the bread winners, backlit GBAs out the yin yang.  Translucent red, by far the most popular, translucent green (I'm looking at you, Palmer :P ), translucent blue, smoke, gunmetal, metallic red, and a slew of other non-painted units not in this shot. About 15 total to invoice for with about 5 more to build. I never woulda guessed that the modded GBAs would be so popular!   I wish I could crank out a hundred of these at once. Can't make em fast enough.

Also, should have some updates on the Nomad X mods, some new RCG branded stuff soon like Tshirts, stickers, and hats, plus I plan on finally putting the 3D printer to work :)
