Yup, that's exactly what I plan on doing (both methods). Whether I make molds or not for a part or parts will mostly depend on whether I plan to sell in large enough volume to warrant such (silicone molds have a shelf life, and it ain't that long) or that the parts take well to the casting process. I already make lots of silicone molds for the replacement buttons and whatnot, and I have a good supply of repro plastics and resin materials here :) |

I was just using a 1" cube as sort of a reference, trying to gauge material costs lol. Like if you were to make a reproduction button for a controller I would be curious the actual print/material cost of doing just one |

I'll let you know once I know LOL! ;) It's about 50 bucks for 2.25 pounds of the ABS or PLA material. I'm SURE the software will give me a weight estimate or some sort of materials usage estimate. sorta feel like I'm overstepping my boundaries with this stuff, so I'm gonna keep info about the Real Exciting Popular Reality Objects to the blog from now on ;) As always, more to come... |
