If you're worried about quality, then I'd avoid the combo printer/scanners.

Whatever you do, do not get one of those Artisan deluxe printers. They break extremely easily, and even when they're not broken, it's a miracle if everything you try to do works.

I've been using an Artisan 710 for about 3 years now and I've had no problems.
If you have nothing to do... Don't do it here!

It's not a functionality issue, but rather quality.  If you REALLY want quality, then combo products are never the way to go IMO.

I guess a better question is, what do you use wiggy? My printer works great but my scanner is shit.

I'm wanting to get something new but it's hard to test out items without actually buying them.
Also most stores just sell the stuff and have no idea how to answer questions when you ask them.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

As someone who works in retail:

Yes.

Right now I use a Canon iP4300 printer.  It's become too small for my purposes, but it does a great job and is far more affordable to use as it's only a 5 cartridge printer (CMYK, plus 2nd black cart designed to help with printing full color docs/photos).  They can be had for rather cheap on the likes of amazon and ebay at this point, plus they can print on CDs/DVDs (in the US it requires loading the EU drivers, removing a plastic shield, and buying a print tray for the discs).  A great little printer for what we do here.

My scanner is pretty vanilla.  I bought it because I really only needed to scan B&W sketches in order to create renderings for school.  I never planned on using it for scanning existing art at heigh resolution.  That said, it gets the job done.  Canon LiDE 60.  You can prolly get 'em for nearly nothing at this point.  I think I bought mine like 6 years ago LOL!

Inkjet.  1000%.

Laser is great for high volume, that's it!  Color reproduction blows, paper choice is more limited, and the cost is way prohibitive.
