Of course. In general I think japan got better box art for that series, but it got worse with each game. The third one is just embarrassing, and the 2nd one is just ok.
EDIT: is there a site I can look through for art for the earthbound case?

Ok, I just used the cover on this site and replaced the American artwork with the Japanese artwork. In the process, I realized that the box posted on this site is flawed.
