I wanted to take on a project that I never did before but really had no idea what.

I started looking thru my electronics junk pile and 3 of the item there caught my eyes. A gateway laptop with a busted screen, an Hp laptop with a dead motherboard and a Atari 2600 that no longer works.

So I decided to dismantled the the laptops and yes, you guest it  COMPTARI. I have seen other people build computers in an Atari case before, but they all tend to cut the back of the console which makes it look bad in my opinion and they loose the Atari functionality (unless it's emulated thru the computer).

The project is this:
1. Stuff the gateway computer in the Atari case.
2. Modify the case in the least possible. It will only have 5 small holes for the HDMI, USB, Power Port and Power Button and a series of slats on the back and bottom providing ventilation to cool the processor.
3. Create a USB hub inside an Atari Joystick (2nd phase)
4. Convert an Atari paddle controller into a computer mouse. (2nd phase)
5. Replace Atari motherboard with a modded Flashback 2 (making the console able to play Atari carts). The Flashback 2 is also a smaller form factor making it easier to fit all the electronics inside the console. (3rd phase)

Computer specs.
AMD Turion x2 2.0ghz
256 MB ATI X1200 graphics card
4GB Ram
250GB HD
Bluetooth & WiFi built in
Video and Audio via the HDMI port.

There is a 72mm fan directly under the heat sink. Took it out of a laptop cooling pad. It's 5v USB powered.
