Update Log Day 2:

The rain finally hit at an unknown time this morning due to me being asleep...probably between the hours of 3-5 am.  Flooding started yesterday night before the rain hit in the really bad flood zones.  Fortunately I am still safe.  Governor declared state of emergency and ordered all cars off the road unless it's an emergency.  Storm should get worse by 3pm today and continue throughout tomorrow...high tide will be at 8pm and most likely the most serious flooding will occur around that time.

Streets have been closed off and most businesses are closed, with some planning on closing early.  A few others are still open and I feel horrible for my old coworkers who work at Wells Fargo...they have to remain open the entire day.  At least so far...still no update from them but I hope they get home safe and sound.

Also, guess a lot of gamers might be disappointed in that they won't be able to make the midnight launch of Assassin's Creed 3 lolz (first world problems)

Anyway, I'll try to take some more pictures and put them up once things start picking up...I don't feel like going out to the serious flood zones so the pictures i'll be taking will be from within the safety of my own home haha.  For now though if I look outside it's just a typical rain storm.

Hope you lads go alright through this thing! Where I live in Australia Hurricanes arn't really an issue, Bushfires are a far more pressing concern (and of course arsehole spiders, bastard snakes and just about everything else that's alive wanting to kill you).

Best wishes to you all and your families.

I got heavy winds and rain. Some areas have been evacuated, such as Bridgeport. A lot of places have lost power, but not mine. Still very tame.

The police and emergency crew have been saying to the places they are evacuating that if you sty and you are trapped on your roof, that they are not going to come and help you.  :-\

There are cars on the street outside. I think some stores might be open. I'm tempted to go for a walk . . .

Oh boy It is very windy out there.  I have never seen 80-100 year old maples and oaks sway at a near 20 deg angle.  So far the only precipitation is a general fine mist embedded in the wind gusts.  I'm not in a projected eye path, but the storm is going to hook under then over creating a nice condition of storm surge filled bays with swollen rivers with nowhere to go.  The only good side of this is watching the local weather guys standing on the board walk choking on wind and getting blown over.  I just heard one reporting say something like " We have a date with sandy she is knocking on the door and she is Ugly"  HAHA love awkward live ad-lib.

I've been playing some Kabuki Quantum fighter in between brownouts.

Good luck Superchop.  Jersey Strong

I moved down stairs apon my moms request, its safer down her just in case a tree falls on us, there are a few next to me. I moved a lot of my games away from the outside wall.

The wind is whipping the side of the house, and it has started to sleet. may not be going to work tomorrow if the roads get nasty.

Glad to hear that you guys are doing well so far!  This must be one hell of a storm, because even we got hit pretty hard. According to the electric company's website, 161,000 people in the greater Cleveland area were without power yesterday morning  :o It's down to ~90K now, but that hasn't helped us any so far.

Of course I make my claim of "hurricanes don't really affect us", then we lose power Monday afternoon and its still gone. 55° F in our house. Going to my mom's place, too damned cold for me...

Well that was fun.  No power since Monday night.  Back to work after a failed attempt on Tuesday.  Trees and poles litter the streets.
One person died in my town just a few blocks away, a tree fell into his house.
I worked at the CONED East river power station in lower Manhattan for 2 years.  I am somewhat familiar with the transformers that blew in the switch yard. Two substations were lost, not a good thing at all. Everything inside the power plant is up on concrete pedestals in anticipation of flooding conditions.  They are screwed if water got into the turbine enclosure.
On the bright side a coworker just unloaded his GB Cart collection on me. yay! Some hot titles too

Finally just got power.  It went out monday night and came back on just a few hours ago.  Besides the power outage me and my family didn't suffer much damage.  House didn't flood like we thought it would even though the water outside the house rose up to almost a foot.  We had a generator running so a lot of our more important electronics were powered (fridges, freezers just for the first night) then the next day we powered up a tv and satelite receiver to watch the news.  Occasionally we would also charge our laptops but only for entertainment in the form of movies since the internet was down completely.

Cell phone towers were also affected and even today service isn't back.  I can now receive texts normally but still unable to make calls from the cell phones.  We luckily have 2 land line phones that aren't cordless so we were still able to contact family and friends to let them know we were safe.

Overall though, in comparison to a lot of other people we were well off...electricity and internet was all that we lost and we still had gas and hot water to eat and shower.

I'll put up some pictures later today and tomorrow.
