Halo 4 Limited Edition Console Bundle - should I get it?

So, my little old Xbox 360 20GB console from 2007 got the red-ring-of-death for the third time yesterday.  I'm attempting my third repair on it and it's currently cooling down on my kitchen table.  I've been contemplating getting a new system for quite some time now, and I am unlikely to move on to the next generations of consoles (at least anytime soon).

So...

Pros:
* Cool as shit design and controllers.  Extra $60 $100 functionally gets me an extra controller, headset (my dog ate my old one), a 320GB hard drive, and wireless functionality
* Pretty big Halo fan, I own 1, 2 and 3 (not Reach or ODST).  Love the campaigns and have beaten each game on Legendary Co-Op.  Usually get really into the multiplayer for a few months then it dies off.
* Hopefully a decently designed Xbox that will run smoothly.
* Will likely be the most "complete" 360 console which soothes the collector in me.

Cons:
* $350 is a hefty price tag, especially considering I would probably get the game used (though I've gotten the other Halo main series on launch date)
* I haven't been gaming a whole lot lately, though this latest set-back literally interrupted my Limbo gaming session.  I think I was near the end.
* I could go the used route and definitely save some money over retail, or possibly continue to limp along on my current console if I can keep the bastard going.
* I still have a backlog on other systems I could be getting to.
* Trying to save money recently, and this is not saving.

What are you all's thoughts?  Anyone else getting or thinking of getting this?

Edit: Realized there is a new holiday bundle.  So it's $250 for that as an alternative(comes with Skyrim digital download, Forza Motorsport 4 "essentials (stripped) edition", and 250GB console in comparison).  I'm so torn!

Update (Edit#2): Old (un)faithful is green-ring again...

I advise saving your money, it may be a good deal, but check how much you've spent in the past month or even two months and see if you can justify it.
If you have not really been spending money on video games then go for it, but if you have and you are trying to save money then don't.
Just my take on it.

If you've got other consoles you could play in the mean time I'd do that, especially since your old one is working again.

Also depends on if you are trying to collect older games that are going up in value.

For me $350 could get some hard to find titles that will likely end up costing more in the future while once the new Xbox system comes out a 360 will be dirt cheap.

I'd say if you will use it before it goes down in price go for it.  If not then wait.

Haven't spent a whole lot lately, though the games I have gotten are for the 360 and GameCube.  It's more about the frustration factor than anything else.  I kind of want to sell my console and give someone else my (fully disclosed) problem.

Take that with a grain of salt though. I can't stand Halo.


Also, I have a hefty stack of RLOD 360's that are in various stages of repair/disrepair. I actually have a Halo box if you want it. It's actually the one that's sitting on my work table in pieces right now.  I'll sell it to you when it's fixed or as is if you want. It won't be re-balled or anything, but I do use pretty much every trick/part in the book to keep em running.

I think that you should get it, but you'll be spending a WHOLE lot more money spending it on extra crap, like Xbox LIVE, nice headsets, etc.

My only problem with the Halo designed xbox is that in a year or so from now the looks of the system will probably get old and you'd get tired of looking at it.  Back when COD: Modern Warfare 2 (I believe it was that one?) came out they did a special edition MW2 xbox.  It looked pretty cool at the time and I thought about getting one...but now when I see it online I can't help but be glad I didn't get it.  Kinda the same with the Star Wars one...it's nice and all but I don't see myself having that on the shelf along side everything else...they're more of a "show" piece then anything and I wouldn't want to risk it getting damaged.

If you're really stuck on the idea of getting a new xbox then a regular slim would do just fine...the holiday bundle you mentioned is a better plan then the halo one and it gives you a bit of money left over.

If your a halo fan, and you have the cash, then I'd say go for it!
I already had a working box when the halo 3 special came out, out of all the specials that's the best looking one!, IMHO.
If you just want a console, just get a regular slim, you can always get H4 2nd hand/used

See this is the enthusiasm I was hoping for .  Not sure what an H4 is tho.  I think I'm gonna go for it, planning to hit GameStop after work and hopefully get some decent credit for my current system.  I think it's on its last legs, the RRoD fix does not appear to be a very permanent thing (other than reballing).

Just got back from GameStop and traded in my old Xbox.  Here's what they offered me trade-in value:

XB360 System w/ wireless controller (HDMI) $95.00 (includes $50 bonus)
XB360 Play & Charge Kit $10.40 (includes $2.40 bonus)...I know the battery thing doesn't charge anymore, cable works though
XB External HD 20GB $7.15 (includes $1.65 bonus)
Total = $112.55  

Not bad at all actually.  But here's the kicker, he immediately tacks on a $25 "Refurb Service" that I question since I just spent a bunch of time yesterday making sure the system works beautifully and all.  He points to the USB flip door (the thing that breaks from normal use on literally every white xbox).  Edit: Apparently with a little effort, a paperclip, and some glue YouTube tells me this can be fixed.  I'm like "you've got to be kidding me!" and he says "I know, but it's a flat fee no matter what's wrong with it".  So I ask him if he's gonna hook it up and make sure it works and all and he says "Nope, once it's marked as refurbed we take it as is no matter what."

WHAT?!?!?!  I could apparently bring in an Xbox that is completely melted on the inside, a controller that is thrashed, a brick that doesn't work, and bent up AV cables and if that little door on the front stays open he's not gonna even look.  Guess I wasted my time since I was gonna trade it in anyways...
HEY EVERYONE! BRING YOUR BROKEN SYSTEMS TO GAMESTOP!  This is why I would never buy a used system from them.

Anyways...I get $87.55 in credit and I pre-ordered the Halo one to pick up Nov. 6th.

In hindsight, considering I can avoid tax on Amazon maybe I should have just gone that route and I still coulda sold my Xbox for like $70 and come out the same.  NO REGRETS

That's why I always liked the idea of the changeable faceplates on the original 360s. They should have included more of those in special edition bundles.

It looks sick, and the unique controllers (2!) along with the blue LEDs are really selling it for me.  Rest is gravy.  I only wish the bundle came with the limited edition version of the game (or had a separate bundle option for that).

You can always buy the limited edition and then just sell/trade in the normal edition that comes in the bundle.  It's a bit more money being spent but it'll be a nicer addition to the Halo 4 box then just the standard edition.

But then again...it is another 100 bucks extra being spent with only a possible 50 being returned if you can sell the normal version at that price...
