Seperate WiiU controllers will be available mid 2013 the earliest. BigN says they aren't needed anyway as there will be no games supporting a second tablet controller until then.

Afaik the classic controller can only be used for Wii games. Sadly the Pro controller also can only be used for WiiU games. I would have loved to use the pro controller for Wii games....

Please don't assume the U changes anything for Wii games. Nintendo has clearly stated that the U will have NO upscaling capabilities. So the only picture quality gain you get could be because the U finally supports HDMI, if that makes the picture any better. Still all old Wii games run in 480p not 1080p. Do even WiiU games run in FullHD? I thought the will be rather 720p....

My friend, who is a total videophile, says that VC games on the U are upscaled despite what N says.  It pisses him off something fierce, and he says the only reason he ever DL'd any SNES games via VC is because they were pixel-perfect.

That's corporate retail pricing for you. I'm sure it'll go down soon enough. Probably a few weeks at the most. There's no way it'll sell at that price when we've got more new copies of the game than we have systems. :D

I believe your friend is right. For one, I believe all N64 games were upscaled to 480p on the Wii, anyway, but more importantly, when the Wii U outputs via HDMI, it outputs at one specific resolution. For example, I have my Wii U set to 1080p, so it automatically upscales any-and-all content, including Wii mode content, into 1080p. Of course, this is a very basic upscale, with no attempts made to make the image look better, so it really has the same effect as the internal upscaler on most TVs. Even so, HDMI video is of a higher quality than Component, so VC games will look better regardless.

Some things I'm curious about.
When are they going to sell the GamePad separately? I saw on Wiki 2 are supported.
When transferring Wiiware and VC games from a Wii, does it remove it from the Wii? how is transferring done done?
Can a Classic Controller be used in place of a Pro Controller?
How do Wii games look in 1280p?

4. As long as Wii Remote is an option, then yes. My friends and I were playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - One had the gamepad (and later the pro controller), one had Wii Remote + Nunchuk, and the other two were a Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro. So they all work. This might be on a game-by-game basis though.

So, Call of Duty Black Ops 2.....Is five player!?!?!? Is this really true?
TyrannicalFascist:
Not sure about that.  We didnt try 5 people, just 4. Might be possible, since we can do 5 player on Mario U, Nintendo Land and Sonic Racing Transformed.
