How many different cart colors are there? As far as I know there are:

Classic Gameboy Cart Design
Default Gray Color (Tetris, Super Mario Land, etc)
Red (Pokemon Red)
Blue (Pokemon Blue)
Yellow (Pokemon Yellow, Donkey Kong Land)
Silver Flake (Pokemon Silver)
Gold Flake (Pokemon Gold)
Black (GB/GBC Games, DX games)
White (Purikura)
Pink (Japanese Tamagotchi/Gameboy Pocket Bundle)

Gameboy Camera
Red
Blue
Green
Yellow
Gold

Gameboy Color
Clear (Super Mario Bros Deluxe, etc.)
Clear Blue Flake (Pokemon Crystal)
Clear Pink (Kirby Tilt n Tumble)

Gameboy w/ Rumble
Dark Gray (Pokemon Pinball, etc.)
Clear (Perfect Dark, etc.)

Gameboy Advance
Dark Gray (Super Mario Advance, etc.)

Are there any colors I'm missing/incorrect on?

I'm pretty sure no other game used the same cartridge shape as thing thing, either.

You can replace the battery, all games should have this. I love how it says "Do not eat the battery" on it, that or it is ageist Pac-Man

Yes indeed. All Gameboy Color games produced before around late 1999 came in black cartridges the same size and shape as original gray DMG carts. As far as I'm aware, all black GBC carts are backwards compatible with the older Super GameBoy as well as the black-and-white original and Pocket.

Gold/Silver would be in black carts if they weren't specially colored. Most games that could play on the GB but supported color were in black carts, such as Pokemon TCG.

These Japanese versions vary from their American versions

Pocket Monters Gold - sparkly dark bluish-purple
Pocket Monster Silver sparkly dark grayish

.... i think the bottom half of the cart is black too. I'll have to double check mine later
