I only own a Wii (read: not 360 or PS3), and it has fulfilled all of my gaming needs this generation. It's unfortunate that people really need to be convinced that it is "for grown-ups" by referencing M rated games. If people are unable to enjoy a good game (or movie, book, etc. for that matter) just because it isn't strictly geared towards adults, then they're going to miss out on some remarkable experiences. I own around 50 Wii games, and of those, only a handful are M rated, yet I've thoroughly enjoyed each one that I have played, regardless of then ESRB rating.

so with this same logic, I can find every E rated game and say that "PS3 is not only for hardcore gamers".  You only listed rated M games.  Every system has them, point is?

Whatever Deadpool. If your gonna be negative, then do it anywhere but on this thread.

i wasn't being negative i was just saying that i prefer a console loaded with  good E rated games than bad M rated games, and a lot of those games you put there are really bad not all off course.

I'm kinda surprised by this thread.  I know that there's been some back-and-forth over the years, with the Wii being labeled as something for litte kids, but I didn't that that was still an issue!

By this point, I think most of us either have a Wii or have had one, at some point, and most of us are adults, too.  I'm almost 30, and I *love* the little black Wii we have sitting next to our TV!  I only have two games for it, currently - No More Heroes and Sonic Colors - and they're two of my favorite games of this generation.  NMH I like for it's "throwback" feel, as it never takes itself too seriously, and has a lot of nods to older games.  The blood n' guts doesn't flip my switch too much - they could have released the Japanese version over here, with black "dust" instead of blood, and I'd like it all the same!  Sonic Colors, in my opinion, is just a great game, and really captures the classic Sonic feel.  The fact that it's E rated doesn't mean it's just for kids, and in my book, the rating isn't a strike against it whatsoever.

If you wanna get technical, no every system does not have M-rated games or ratings for that matter. Because the ESRB; which produces rating on games wasn't created until 1994 (near the end of the 4th generation of consoles, and a year after the 5th generation of consoles). So, video games from 1993 (start of the 5th generation of consoles)-1972 (the dawn of video games), never had ratings, much less M-ratings. This is where your statement isn't entirely true. Have a nice day. ;D

^^^ I'm pretty sure he just means since the inception of ESRB ratings, and I'm pretty sure you knew that's what he meant.

Sorta sad, although not surprising, that almost all of those are either terrible, ports, or terrible ports.

M rated or not, the Wii didn't really cater to the likes of us very well over its 6 year lifespan. I've got like 20 Wii games and that's already more than I really want. Like others, I play it less than any other current gen console and it has the ONLY Zelda game that I really have no desire to finish (don't bring up the CDi crap, Arseen :P).

Hope the Wii U brings some joy back into Nintendo home gaming for me...

I am just stating this, and I don't want to start a fight, but "have a nice day" was a dick move.  You state you don't want people to hate you, but you definitely sure do try to stay on everyones good side with your sarcasm.

Obviously the ESRB has not been out "all" games, I was stating that "every new game has a rating, and your logic is stating "HEY! WII HAS RATED M GAMES!"  Your 35 Reasons are 35 pictures of rated M games, which only is one / 1 reason why Wii isn't just for little kids.

Wii is completely geared towards kids, and their rated M games, which Wiggy will back me up on, are terrible terrible ports.  1080p over 480p anyday.  Because the games are suppose to looks like they are "drawn from a children's book" [Mii's], this completely supports the fact that the Wii is not for hardcore gamers.  I will pay $60 compared to $50 for a PS3 than a Wii game just because of the graphics.  If my friends cousins want to play any games at my friends house, they are only limited to the "children consoles", or anything that doesn't look realistic.  So based off the fact that Xbox and PS3 are for serious gamers that do have a variety of kids games as well, my friends feel safer leaving the Wii unattended compared to the PS3 where they could easily place in Grand Theft Auto and getting some "Hot Coffee".  They turn on the Wii, leave the room, and come back to the cousins playing Mario.

I have a Wii and I have not turned it on over a year.  I have been basically thinking I should just pack it up and store it away for how much I even think of turning it on.

Your thread should more be:
1 Reason why Wii is not geared towards kids: 35 M Rated Games

35 M Rated games is NOT 35 Reasons why, it is only 1 reason.

I'm just labeling this guy as a troll

Equating graphics to "hardcore" gaming makes about as much sense as assuming good graphics make a good game. Someone may prefer high definition graphics (I'd bet that most of us do), but to dismiss games primarily based on their graphics or graphical style is asinine. I'll conceed that there are obvious example where terrible graphics are indeed found in terrible games, but there are many more examples (and recent ones at that, given the retro revival movement) which negate this assumption. It would be like saying that all games released prior to the PS3 are retroactively bad because their graphics are worse. For example, "That Yoshi's Island is a terrible game because not only are the graphics in standard definition, but they look like they were drawn in crayon!"

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I find some of my favourite games to be those that are not steeped in realism. Video games aren't reality, so I don't mind if an excellent game like Wario Land: Shake It! has a completely cartoonish presentation. Would I like it if it were in HD? Of course, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't still provide a fantastic experience.

It always makes me wonder who decided/made the slang "hardcore gamers" or "serious gamers" only for Xbox and PS3 users

You would think just from the slang that its not about one system at all, or have anything to to with graphics or better games for that matter.
wouldn't it be more about the overall time spent playing games in general?

Hell in my opinion someone could be classified as a hardcore or serious gamer if they spent all their time on one single game even if it was say Color A Dinosaur. If they spent as much time playing that game as someone plays COD wouldn't they still be considered "serious" or "hardcore" just to a different game?

Maybe this is me grasping at straws considering I don't own a PS3 or Xbox but still consider myself a "Serious gamer" because I probably game more that a lot of other people I know who do have those systems. Even though its mostly on my SNES.

I own all 3 curent systems.  I play my xbox 90%, PS3 3% games, 6% blu-ray, Wii 1%.  Now yes I am a hard core game (40-60 hrs gaming a week).  I have like 200 , x360 games, 20 PS3, and 40or 50 Wii!!  I personally think the Wii is geared to the casual gamer.  I think Nintendo came out and said this.  I also only play Wii games that have very little to no motion controll.  Motion gaming sucks and is just a gimmick and will not stick, just lie 3d gaming (it is already dead on PS3).  That being said I love Nintendo games and the companybut just hate the Wii.
