I found some red DVD cases lying around the house, (I took the boxes off of a Ringling Brothers DVD and a Cheaper by the Dozen Dozen DVD if anyone wants know. I, of course exchanged them with some empty DVD cases we had in our hutch in our living room, so my family wouldn't notice.) and I thought this would be a great idea for my PS2 Greatest Hits games. I intially got the idea from what PS3 does with their Greatest Hits games, with the red blu-ray cases. I thought if it works for PS3, why not PS2 as well? Let me know what you guys think of this little project I'm doing. 2 games red-boxed, 10 more to go. I actually plan on having 8 more Greatest Hits games, to total up to an even 20, but I don't own those 8 I'm looking for as of now, but hopefully I will soon.. ;D

***I have these 2 put in the red DVD cases for now, because of the uniformity of it, and the fact that they're part of a series. I may change it up and put it on any of my other 10 Greatest Hits games. That is, if any of you would like to see how it looks on other Greatest Hits titles, but it's up to you guys if you want to see them. ;D***

Looks pretty cool! I usually avoid the PS2 Greatest hits because I really hate the red label, but that makes it look a lot better. They'll look great on the shelf all together when you get some more of them cased up.
I'm looking for vol. 2, 4, and 5 of the Orchestral Game Music Concert CDs. I'll pay well if it's authentic and doesn't skip. :)

Good idea, however i fekin HATE greatest hits, players choice, selects, you name it. Nothing wrong with the product I just dislike looking at collection and seeing different spine labels lol.

Much like how I have my older PS3 titles separate from newer PS3 titles due to spine change. Especially annoying for like Assassins creed 1- old label , 2, brotherhood and revelations - new label

I really don't see why some people hate Nintendo Selects, Player's Choice, Greatest Hits and Platinum Hits (though I'm not into Xbox in the slightest), labels. I think they make the games look distinct and stand out, as well as showing that they're obviously good games to get the re-released label on them.

***I'm planning on doing this for my PSP games. Red UMD cases for my Greatest Hits UMD's and clear UMD cases for my non-Greatest Hits games. It's too bad they don't make red PSP boxes.***

***I'm also considering doing this for my PS1 Greatest Hits games. They're green jewel cases and would go great with the Greatest Hits PS1 games I'm getting. Seeing as how sony released their PS1 Greatest Hits games in green and not red like the newer Greatest Hits games. ***

That's definitely true man. The only one I really and truly dislike is the Nintendo Selects because they frame the original box art in that nasty red border. :P Otherwise I'm on the same page - the fact that they even get released is the mark of a really good game.

BTW I love that green CD case, those PS1 greatest hits will look pretty cool in that.

That's exactly why people DON'T like them. I know that I've made or used the already scanned non-GH versions for the handful of player's choice and GH games that I have.

That said, I really, REALLY dig what you've done and are planning to do (red UMD, green PS1).  I think Larry separates the GH titles from the rest of the pack,  and I really think it looks nice that way.

Can't wait to see pics of these shelved.

The green single disc case will definitely work with my 1 disc PS1 Greatest Hits games, but I'm gonna run into a problem with the green cases when it comes to the Greatest Hits multi-disc games I'm getting, which are: Chrono Cross (2 discs), Driver 2 (2 discs) Parasite Eve (3 discs), and The Legend of Dragoon (4 discs). Unless of course I can find green double jewel cases. Everything else is black label single disc or black label multi-disc from what I remember, so I don't need to worry about those as much.

You can just replace the clear part of the quad case with that green part.  You'd have a green/black case combo which still works since there is the black portion with the name of the game.

The only problem you'd have then is that you'd have a clear cd jewel case with a green front part.

No, those will be fine.  The double cases just use two bottom halves of normal jewel cases ;)

I'm like Wiggy, I prefer my cases to be uniform and will go out of my way to replace my few GH/Player's Choice games with normal retail covers (even when I have the original cover).  But, if you want to go this route I definitely like what you are doing with the coloring of the cases themselves.  The sample pic you provided with the red on red definitely looks cool IMO.

Thanks, I'm glad you think so. The funny thing is, Sony actually changed their disc labels as well as the artwork labels. Nintendo only changed the labels, so its a bit easier with those I suppose.

I don't worry at all about the disc graphics. It's just the spines that really make me nuts, especially on PS1 games. They stand out so much since every game has an all black spine.  Tends to not bother me so much with the PS2 and 360 since the spines aren't a uniform color anyway.

Speaking of spines, and I know this is a bit off the topic, but out of the 50 Wii games I'll have; because I have 8 right now, 1 will not have a white spine like the others. Apparently the spine for this game was yellow for every system it was released for in the US.

***The game is Star Wars: Force Unleashed, a game I originally had for PSP, and went out and bought, after I saw the trailer for it, in the extras of my Star Wars: Battlefront - Renegade Squadron game for PSP. I have decided on getting the Wii version now, for 2 reasons: 1. I gave my PSP version to my cousin and 2. because the Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II was good, so I thought why not get the original Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Wii too?***

My personal opinion is that the red DVD case for the PS2 Greatest Hits games looks badass. It really ties the whole motif together. The others, not so much... The red UMD cases are alright (didn't even know they made those), but I really dislike the green CD case for the original PlayStation Greatest Hits titles. The covers will look too washed out with green. I think it might look better if it were in a green DVD case, but then it wouldn't be the same size as all the other PlayStation games so you'll have 10 games that will stand out.

Yeah, well I'd like to keep to the jewel case standard for my PS1 games; green for Greatest Hits and clear for black label. I say this because turning the 20 PS1 games I'll have; 15 Greatest Hits and 5 black label, into DVD case games like my other DVD case games, is a bit too much for me.
