Now im not saying its good versus evil or anything, just stating opinion that myself maybe others may view resellers, I just put them into categories, ones I can stand and ones that drive me nuts lol.

I agree, those people who buy are the ones creating the problem, but consider this situation - Child wants new wii u for xmas, parents make a fair salary but can't afford to go spend 300+$ the day they took preorders nor were that that informed on it. Now come close to christmas they have their money saved, no wii u to be found. Now understanding supply and demand this quite justifiable but at the end of the day it sucks to see those parents have to spend 2-3x as much just to give their kid what he wants.

Its a moral dilemma if anything, the entire "reseller" scenario

 Kid can suck it. I didn't get SHIT for Christmas. My kid (now 9+Mo) isn't getting more than a few small things, and that's because I know what it was like to get absolutely NOTHING and hearing about what all the spoiled shits in school got.

Currently, I work 3rd shift at my local Target store.  I open boxes for a living, in a nutshell.  It's not the most rewarding job, but it's 40 hours a week, and it pays the bills.

Up until this summer, I was the head sweets baker at the Great Harvest Bakery in Eugene, Oregon.  I *loved* that job, and had it for years, but my situation in life changed, and I had to move.  I now live in Ohio, which has taken some getting used to!

I don't think I'd ever pay above retail to get my kid something for Christmas. 

I'll probably end up giving them good stuff but not spoil them.  I also had to deal with the spoiled kids in school.  This one kid would get a brand new game bought for him every time his dad went on a business trip.  It was good being friends with him though.   I still remember when he got the N64 when it came out.  We played Mario 64 at his place for 2 weeks straight.

I suppose there are two types of resellers, one that many are ok with and those that deserve to die in a fire.

Good Reseller - Goes out looking for deals, mostly older stuff to buy cheap and flip for money, most times to fund their own collection or help pay bills, it's not their fault they know what to look for and take advantage of this. They went out of their way to do it, their reward

Bad Reseller - Those that find loopholes in pricing systems, find something on sale, or even the new popular thing to buy up preorders and sell them for 3x as much. Those that go to a store and buy up every copy of something they have and resell for more. This happens more with new products than used. The loophole is fine, but leave nothing for those who want in on the deal, maybe for their collection etc. See "El Hoardo" on cheapassgamer for example Not everyone has expendable income like that to even compete.

Now sure, you could argue they are both the same thing but in reality its two different types of product they look for. Good reseller may find something for cheap but sells it for going price, bad reseller gets something so no one else can and inflates the price. However at the end of it all, its the way the world works

I'd like to think I'm a good reseller.

I have no interest buying up new release items to make a buck.  The problem with that is there seems to be lots of stupid / lazy people out there who will pay more to have something day 1.

I usually buy things I come across that I know I can flip pretty quickly and make a buck or too.  I price my stuff fairly so that it sells pretty quick - usually about 20% below what an actual auction would go for on eBay.  I also test everything and clean it up to ensure it's in good working and cosmetic condition.  I also get satisfaction out of making people happy when they buy from me.

I've recently started refurbishing NES systems and have sold about 6 or 7 in the last few weeks and all the people buying them are very happy to get back into gaming.  The one surprising thing is that about half the buyers end up being really hot chicks.  Not something I was expecting.

I've also sold quite a few to parents and grandparents who are buying them as birthday and Christmas presents for their kids and grand kids which I think is awesome and way better than buying them crap like Call of Duty.

Wow, really? I've got like 9 Nintendos in my closet that just need new pin sets!

You don't even need new pin connectors in most cases.

Just clean the existing ones and bend the pins back into place.

Bending them back into a proper position would just make it easier to get damaged again. Metal gets weaker the more times its bent.

I did on some, and they work great for now, but most of them the plastic around the pins are so brittle they are al broke and the pins are really bent and smashed up.
