Gameboy Micro faceplates
Deadpool:
can anyone help me with this? the faceplate of my gbm is scratched and i would like to change it.
tbonesteak4dinner:
I think Wiggy is actually working on these to sell. Check out his thread in the Photo Gallery - they're in there somewhere I think...
Staf:
I can't find these anywhere and mine is also a bit scratched. If you can find a fairly cheap option I might buy a couple. The last time I asked didn't get a cheap solution.
wiggy:
They simply cannot be found, in the US at least. I'm watching a micro auction that has a 4 pack of generic plates just because I wanna see the quality. Other than that, I can't find em.
Yeah, check my photo thread. I got the prototype and it fits nicely. Have to make one small tweak and then take a look at the 2nd proto and then they'll be good to go!
FYI, I just watched a brand new Nintendo brand replacement go for 50+ on eBay last month. That's what really made me wanna find another solution.
Doom:
Can you give a general price range you're shooting for with your solution?
Either way, I have 8 generic faceplates from Japan. I think it was $15 or $20 plus shipping. Build quality is okay. I think the plastic these plates are made from is different from the official ones.

In my day, faceplates were rare but still cheap. The ladybug plate was ~$8 plus shipping - but only being sold in one eBay auction. Micros themselves could be found on Sears clearance (with 2 extra faceplates) for $42, and before that were just $35 and $40 at Toys R Us and Walmart for Black Friday. For a good long while, faceplates were available for $5 each from the Nintendo store.
