Death: The Final Game Over

I know this may sound a little morbid.. but I'm scared of dying - in real life!  Doesn't it suck that it is going to happen no matter what?

It sucks for us as gamers in a unique way, at least for me.  For example, I love Mario and Zelda games...  I hate the thought that there will be sequels and new editions in these franchises long after I'm gone -- games I will never have a chance to play!

What if a new Mario game is set to come out and I die the day before it comes out.  I'm so scared!

Does anyone have any hope that maybe scientists will find a way for us to live longer?  Or maybe find a way to transfer our memories and brain info into another form - like a robot.

I'm just really worried about my Final game over -- and was wondering if anyone has the same fears.  It is like all I think about these days as I get much older  :'(

WolfAlmighty:

I just want to die like my grandfather: in his sleep.  Not yelling and screaming like his passengers.

...I kid, I kid.  But honestly, I just hope I don't have an agonizing death.  Like everyone who's afraid to fly because the plane might crash, well, that's a quick death right there.  I'd rather die in a plane crash than suffer through a terminal illness or something like that.  At any rate, I don't think much about death any more.  I used to worry about it when I was a young kid (like third/fourth grade) because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to experience all the good things in life.  Now that I'm in my mid-thirties I realise I never will, so screw it! ;D

Remember...worrying doesn't take away tomorrow's troubles, it only takes away today's peace.

Edit: And is it wrong that when I saw the title of this thread I was expecting someone asking for help for the end boss of level 5 in Castlevania?  Once a gaming nerd, forever a gaming nerd, yeah? ;D

BudgetGameCases:

Fear of death is natural.  Hell, death itself is natural!

In my experience, I have found that most people that worry a lot about dying, die stressed, so, I try not to dwell on it.

wiggy:

As a person with a handful of chronic (and what will likely become terminal) health issues, I will tell you that dwelling on such things is about as helpful as an anvil during a swimming lesson. It's obviously easier said than done, but putting those thoughts on the back burner is really the best thing that you can do.   What good will such thoughts bring?

We all die. Even Larry King will eventually die (although, he does seem to have a particular knack for evading it).

Worrying about what might come after your death, especially on such a superficial level (missing a new game), seems especially fruitless. Who cares? You'll be dead, not blind and armless in a hospital without electricity.  If you're a Christian, then you believe you'll be in heaven and you can prolly get the newest Mario game ASAP. If you're an Aethiest, then you won't have a concioisness to even think about such things with.  If you're a Buddhist, well, as a game collector you're already a pretty terrible Buddhist, so you may wanna reconsider your faith. Etc.

The fear is natural. It's a big part of what helps keep us from doing stupid-ass shit every day, unlike the morons that created jackass, that are probably missing certain receptors in their brain or seriously just hate life and themselves.  The trick is to not let it overwhelm you.

CommunistGamer:

This might not help a lot.

But if you worry about everything, you will regret doing nothing about it.

If you spend all your time worrying about death, than you will miss so many beautiful things in life.

I talk about death a lot myself, i've lost friends because of how depressing i was. DON'T let that happen to you, the less you worry the better.
