I know this may sound a little morbid.. but I'm scared of dying - in real life!  Doesn't it suck that it is going to happen no matter what?

It sucks for us as gamers in a unique way, at least for me.  For example, I love Mario and Zelda games...  I hate the thought that there will be sequels and new editions in these franchises long after I'm gone -- games I will never have a chance to play!

What if a new Mario game is set to come out and I die the day before it comes out.  I'm so scared!

Does anyone have any hope that maybe scientists will find a way for us to live longer?  Or maybe find a way to transfer our memories and brain info into another form - like a robot.

I'm just really worried about my Final game over -- and was wondering if anyone has the same fears.  It is like all I think about these days as I get much older  :'(

I just want to die like my grandfather: in his sleep.  Not yelling and screaming like his passengers.

...I kid, I kid.  But honestly, I just hope I don't have an agonizing death.  Like everyone who's afraid to fly because the plane might crash, well, that's a quick death right there.  I'd rather die in a plane crash than suffer through a terminal illness or something like that.  At any rate, I don't think much about death any more.  I used to worry about it when I was a young kid (like third/fourth grade) because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to experience all the good things in life.  Now that I'm in my mid-thirties I realise I never will, so screw it! ;D

Remember...worrying doesn't take away tomorrow's troubles, it only takes away today's peace.

Edit: And is it wrong that when I saw the title of this thread I was expecting someone asking for help for the end boss of level 5 in Castlevania?  Once a gaming nerd, forever a gaming nerd, yeah? ;D

Fear of death is natural.  Hell, death itself is natural!

In my experience, I have found that most people that worry a lot about dying, die stressed, so, I try not to dwell on it.

As a person with a handful of chronic (and what will likely become terminal) health issues, I will tell you that dwelling on such things is about as helpful as an anvil during a swimming lesson. It's obviously easier said than done, but putting those thoughts on the back burner is really the best thing that you can do.   What good will such thoughts bring?

We all die. Even Larry King will eventually die (although, he does seem to have a particular knack for evading it).

Worrying about what might come after your death, especially on such a superficial level (missing a new game), seems especially fruitless. Who cares? You'll be dead, not blind and armless in a hospital without electricity.  If you're a Christian, then you believe you'll be in heaven and you can prolly get the newest Mario game ASAP. If you're an Aethiest, then you won't have a concioisness to even think about such things with.  If you're a Buddhist, well, as a game collector you're already a pretty terrible Buddhist, so you may wanna reconsider your faith. Etc.

The fear is natural. It's a big part of what helps keep us from doing stupid-ass shit every day, unlike the morons that created jackass, that are probably missing certain receptors in their brain or seriously just hate life and themselves.  The trick is to not let it overwhelm you.

This might not help a lot.

But if you worry about everything, you will regret doing nothing about it.

If you spend all your time worrying about death, than you will miss so many beautiful things in life.

_____
I talk about death a lot myself, i've lost friends because of how depressing i was. DON'T let that happen to you, the less you worry the better.

I personally don't fear death, I kinda fear a painful death, but I tend to not dwell on it. It does kind of suck that we wont see all the advances in everything in the future, but we are seeing more than the last generation. Who knows even if we wont, nobody knows for sure if there is no "re-spawning" or whatever. Even though I consider myself a Atheist, I do not rule out everything, I just gravitate to whats known, like science and stuff.

Seance I'm working on a cartoon series and stuff, my only fear is if it gets popular I die before its done and did not leave how it ends end somewhere. Then all the fans get a huge cliff hanger that never gets answered. In one case where this happened with the web show Edd's World were the animator and writer died in the middle of a 2 parter, The surviving voice actors are working on finishing it off with a new animator and voice for Edd. Another thing to a lesser extent is if it gets used in a way that is disrespectful to the source material, like that stupid car commercial that used out of context clip from a John Lennon interview and twisted it to advertise a product, Wasn't that a Simpsons episode? I doubt that will happen, unless this the series somehow explodes into mainstream popularity.

I do not fear death; I laugh at its inability to get me. Death is the only liberation we have from this living hell, but one cannot simply bring it upon one's self. Death must be baited into giving us that sweet release. I know not what lies beyond this, if anything, but I will not miss this existence in the least. Justice is dead (how ironic), and if for some reason there exists an ultimate being that judges me despite its creation and predetermination of all existence, that will only confirm my suspicions about life. No, I do not fear death. What kills me is the waiting.

Shit, a giant asteroid may smash into the planet a week after you die. Wouldn't be missing much then. Just sayin'.

Be kinda a fitting death for me, seeing how I'm in the middle of MM.
I have "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" stuck in my head now.

as non believer death is just stop living, it means nothing.

i`m not afraid to die, i`m afraid of not doing all the thing that i want to do but i`m too lazy or depressive to do, in that order of ideas i`m very afraid to die without finding a solution to that.

Well Dick Clark died, and I was convinced he was a robot.

Without getting into too big of a philosophical or religious discussion/argument, I'll throw in my two cents. There are some things that have happened in my life, some things I have seen and some thoughts and conversations I've had that have been very profound for me. I've had a number of terrible, seemingly senseless things happen in my life, but I've seen the impact of these things on me and those around me and I see that there is a purpose to everything that has happened. It's good to ask the big questions. No one has all the answers, and if they say they do, run away as fast as you can.

Personally I cannot come to terms with the notion that there is no purpose to our lives, and as such, death is not necessarily and end to who we are. Afterlife? Maybe. Or maybe something no one has considered yet. We'll find out eventually. If you continue to exist beyond death, then there was a reason you lived. If you do not, then you should make your time alive count. Either way, it's not good to anticipate. Spend your life doing what you are good at, and sharing with others. Don't spend your life comparing yourself to someone else, because you are a unique individual, and who is to say that anyone is more important than another in life. Don't begrudge someone for thinking differently than yourself - after all, we're all just people trying to understand our purpose and our roles in life, whatever they may be.

There is so much we as intelligent beings do not know about life and existence, things we don't understand, and things we can't even conceive of, that I won't rule out anything. There's so much we are discovering about the nature of existence and the patterns, orders and processes that things follow, and I have to wonder - why do these governing rules even exist? Just try to have faith. You aren't alone in your concerns, so it's great to talk to others about what they think. By the way, faith isn't the same as religion.  It takes faith to go to sleep, because there are no guarantees you'll wake up the next morning.

So yeah....um......how bout them there video games?  :P

When I was younger I actually feared death for the same reasons.  Like if I die today...I'll never get to know how "so and so" movie series will end...or since i'm into a few manga series...I'll die not knowing if Luffy will ever find One Piece!  But as I got older I started worrying less and less.  And nowadays, I don't fear death, I just fear on how I will die.  Of course I'd prefer a silent sleeping death but not everyone can be so lucky.

The other thing that I really don't like about death is leaving behind grieving friends and family.  How would my parents feel losing their oldest son?  What would happen to my mother with her heart condition?  My younger brother who looks up to me...what would happen to him?  And so on and so on.  For those reasons (people) I do everything I can to survive and not tempt death to take me just yet lol.
