PS1 games look beautiful in component using the PS2. The problem is that it's low res component 240p which most all modern TV's can't accept without an upscaler. Most CRT's with component inputs however can display the very low resolution. --- End quote --- Wow, that's the reason why people are getting a black screen? Lucky for me my projector is built around TV standards and handles 240p and just fine. ;D Thanks zakurowrath, you saved me from having to go find a PS1 and S-video cables. :) Now to find me some PS2 component cables... --- End quote --- No problem ;) The official PS3 component cables work well with the PS2 if you wanted to go the 1st party route. |

I have resolved to replace the PS3 and do a quick fix on mine that will last long enough to get my stuff off of it (Saves, DLC, downloads, etc), and transfer the hard drive over, and restore on the new system. |

well for the record, yes the rlod is indeed fixable, i have 2 60gb model (got one for free, and the other for 40$) mine is running for the past 2 years, and i rebuild 5 ylod/rlod to test my theory, and not one broke again, PM me if you want to know how to fix it Cheers |

Especially considering they're age and their unknown history of possible abuse. --- End quote --- So rather than buy a launch ps3 because it's old and 2nd hand you'd rather search out an even older 2nd hand console. Strange logic. ??? --- End quote --- I'd say it makes sense because I'm pretty confident that the average, used, Slim PS2 will outlast a used launch model PS3 just because the PS3 is much more complex a machine and generates more heat. Basically more things that can break. I have a launch 60GB and if it ever goes I'll just go back to my Slim PS2. I've got a 320 GB slim that gets used for PS3, PS1, DVD, Blurays, etc. while the 60GB is only used for PS2 games to hopefully extend it's life. |
