My 20Gig PS3 finally died today (2007-2012), it was a launch model, and I am surprised that it lasted this long. I do not want to replace it, as I do get alot of use from the Backwards Compatibility, the virtual Memory Card function is very handy. So, after doing some googling, I found a place called "gophermods" and I do question their legitimacy, like anyone would. Has anyone here dealt with them? Or do people have a better suggestion? http://www.gophermods.com/ the $200 Sony repair is a bit steep and crummy as I would not be getting my original console back and hard drive (mine is modified to fit a 12.5mm Hard Drive, when you could only get 1TB ones in that size, now they are standard sized). And Yes, I did do all the quick fixes I could find. |

Yellow Light of dead? i don`t know if this has a fix, but what i know if after your console breaks it will do it again in a short time, the same for the 360`s, i would recommend buying a ps3 slim and a ps2 if you don't have one. |

What sucks is you really need to do some research on these services to make sure you get a good one so that your PS3 can be reballed due to the Yellow Light of Death. There is a service that I did find on eBay that has very good feedback. Seems the only negative feedback are people who have abused their consoles or had roaches in them. I'd check them out and see if you wanna give'em a go: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PLAYSTATION-3-REBALLING-REPAIR-SERVICE-1-YEAR-WARRANTY-/270731664695?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f08dd5d37 --- Quote from: Deadpool on September 16, 2012, 11:07:03 PM ---Yellow Light of dead? i don`t know if this has a fix, but what i know if after your console breaks it will do it again in a short time, the same for the 360`s, i would recommend buying a ps3 slim and a ps2 if you don't have one. --- End quote --- It does have a fix, it's called reballing the processors to the motherboard. The early 360's also have the same problem since they generate alot of heat and have no where to dissipate it. The first model PS3's have great backward compatibility and that's why people still want them over the slims, since the slims are crippled in comparison to what they can do and don't have as many features as the first models. Also some people wanna save room and not have a PS3 and a PS2 on the same shelf, not to mention have a modern console that has HDMI out for modern TV's. |

I would get a backwards compatible model PS3, but not all of my PS1 and PS2 games are compatible with the 3 models of backwards compatible PS3's. So, I'll probably get a slim one and just play my PS2 and PS1 games on that instead and have the PS3 solely for PS3 games. |
