The Wii's internal memory was some 516 megs? it wasn't even a gig and a lot of people did fine :\ some may have needed to buy an sd card but those can be bought for dirt cheap. And really if anything, the Wii U will recognize external hard drives so even though the system itself is only 8 gigs extra memory can also be bought for prety cheap. But unless the Wii U does what the ps3 does and require some games to actually be installed I don't see the 8 gigs really be an issue. But then again, I'm gonna wait till the price lowers on the system and who knows...maybe in a year or so they'll have different versions with more memory for less --- End quote --- +1. I still have my original 12GB hard drive on my Xbox 360 (Those didn't even come with storage back then...). That was way MORE than enough for me, since most movies stream now (even from Zune, yes?). I don't think anybody really ever buys and actually downloads movies onto consoles. Or at least you shouldn't since you have no rights when it comes to downloaded content... ;) 8GB should be more than enough for Virtual Console stuff as well. Ocarina of Time is what, 32 megabytes? And that's a big one.... And do you guys really want another system with first party branded hard drives and storage? Xbox 360 hard drives cost STUPID amounts of money for how much space you're getting, and they don't come with much internal storage (my new slim came with 4GB....). At least the WiiU will give you up to 32GB and the option to use non-first party branded storage. (Yes, I know the 360 allows this, but only for personal music and videos, etc.) --- End quote --- I want it to be like the PS3, where I can slap any 2.5" drive in that I want >:( |

The majority of customers will not have the need for large hard drive space. 8-32gb will be enough for the average consumer. People like us who love having the large hdd space are really the minority to be honest. They may alienate some of us with the small space but it's smart business wise. Ill upgrade my memory if needed rather cheaply, its not a concern to me. @wiggy Shoothimnow was correct, the original xbox had 8gb (not 20gb) btw. Just letting you know. |

The thing is that memory is SOOOOO cheap. It's not like adding another 100GB would cost much of anything. I dunno, it just irks the hell outta me. Just shows that Nintendo is staying as far away from the mainstream as possible, which means another Gamecube/Wii. I.e., a console with great 1st party titles, and a whole bunch of either crap or ports. |

I actually like this small hdd thing. It shows that Nintendo was, is and will always be doing their own thing. They were the last to abandon cartridges, pretty wacky eh? They are the last sticking to non installable games and small scale flash hdds, als pretty nuts right? I love me some nutiness.... :D Already preordered my black U.... ;D |
