Here's a pretty random discussion topic. I'm not sure how many of you are roughly my age (25), but lately I've been getting nostalgic about those old Nickelodeon game shows from back in the 90's. It might be because I briefly met Dee Bradley Baker at Star Wars CVI. He's currently the voice of Captain Rex and all the Clone Troopers on The Clone Wars, but he told me his first job was voicing Olmec on Legends of the Hidden Temple.

I found a youtube user named ChargerTheWolf who has uploaded almost every episode of most of them, and I've been watching through Legends of the Hidden Temple (which might have been my favorite back in the day). I remember thinking that show would make a great game. I'm admittedly not watching every entire episode - just some of the challenges, seeing what prizes they offered back then, and of course watching the temple runs at the end. I just started season 2 and I've found it very interesting to see the progression of the show from a very basic show with rehashes of the same challenges, to now much more elaborate and cool challenges. I especially like the temple changes and the overall better lighting, fog machines, and better temple rooms. It's also funny what Genesis/SNES games they had as prizes back then. And lots of trips to Space Camp...

I know I would have loved to have been on any of those shows back then, but our family couldn't afford a trip to Florida. I certainly think I would have stood a better chance than most contestants on Nick Arcade at least.  ::)

Anyone have a favorite show from back then? Teams you rooted for? Know anyone that got on them?

Lol, I remember watching all of those shows with Nick Arcade being my favorite.

And yeah...watching the show I always felt I could do loads better then the contestants on the show.  Actually I was so cocky that I felt like I could beat anyone on any of the shows haha but that was probably just cause I was jealous that I was never on them :(

Wow that takes me back... I really liked a lot of those shows also. Crazy, I nearly forgot about them.

I remember a show called What Would You Do also.

Haven't we all???

^_^

Wasn't there a GUTS game, at some point?  I feel like it was on the Super Nintendo.  I never played it, mostly because I never saw it anywhere to rent.  Anyone ever try it out?

I'm pretty sure What Would You Do was hosted by Mark Summers who also hsted Double Dare.  I also recall a show with 3 groups of kids in different colored teams in a physical contest

I love, love, loved that Temple one. Man did I want to be I that show so badly!  Double Dare was awesome too.

Fun fact, Mark Summers (the host) has OCD. I imagine that it must have been hard working on a set like that for him.

And Donnie Jeffcoat!

And... whoever that chick was!

Seriously, I used to *live* for Nick Arcade and Wild & Crazy Kids.  Double Dare and What Would You Do? were rad, too, but they were on pretty often.  Nick Arcade seemed to come on during the day on the weekends, and Wild & Crazy Kids, if I remember right, came on a bit later.  I always wanted to be on Nick Arcade, as I knew I could crush the "high scores" they had set on each game, and always wanted to "go inside the game" at the end.  Of course, it's probably best that I never made it - if I had gone all that way, just to learn that their "game" at the end was just a bluescreen and a bunch of tennis balls, I would have been crushed!

On a side note, I would love to have one of the shirts from W&CC.  I wonder if any sites on the Internet make reproductions?

I found this site recently. http://www.templeshirts.com/ Not sure if they have W&CK, but they have a lot of Nick stuff, including everything you need for Legends of the Hidden Temple. Hmmmmmm....Halloween is coming up... 8)

And yeah, there was a GUTS game for SNES, my friend still has it. No idea if it is any good.

I heard about Marc Summers and OCD. That's pretty amazing that he still happily hosted that show despite it. Now I believe he owns a large portion of Food Network. I see his name as producer on several shows like Restaurant Impossible, and I know he has/had his own show called Unwrapped, where he showed how various candies and snacks are made.
