Been looking to get a SNES for quite some time now.  Does this seem like a decent deal to you guys?  I might go get it later...

Original link removed, not going to buy it

($80 for SNES with all cords, 2 controllers, 5 games- Super Mario World, Sim City, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Starwars, Mario Kart.  Picture seems to show a working system...and like no yellowing)

Should I hold out for something better?  This one at least has some decent games, with only Sim City being one that I wouldn't purchase on my own.  I never owned an SNES but I really want one...I feel like I missed out on something jumping from the NES to N64 during my childhood.

no.  i wouldn't pay any more than $50 for that lot, and that's still really steep.

Hmm, well I've been looking for quite awhile and anything under $50 seems to have like no cords and/or shitty games.  Best I found was maybe a used game store selling a SNES (system only, no cords) for $35 and $5 per controller, unknown conditions.

80 bucks isn't bad for that stuff IMO.  It's basically the lower end of market value.

Depends if you want to play it now or not.

No matter what you pay for something that's relatively common a better deal will come up at some point.

$80 for a working SNES with Mario World and Mario Kart would sell for about $50-60 in my area.  I actually sold 4 of them last year for about $40-$60 and each included 2 controllers, Mario World, and usually another decent game like Mario All Stars, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, etc.

If an SNES goes up for cheaper than that on my local classifieds it gets scooped up right away.

I guess it depends if you are going to play all the games that come with it and if you will have the time to play them in the near future.

I've got an snes model 2 with all the hookups and 1 controller with final fantasy mystic quest and final fight I was going to put uf for sale.
It has been thoroughly cleaned and tested with many games and works and looks great.

I also have another model 1 snes I might sell too. I really meed to clean it before it leaves me though. Thing is it has no power adapter and I'm going to have to fix a controller to go with it.

I've gots tons of the cable hookups and very few av cable hookups btw also.

Also got some extra controllers but like I said, they need cleaned.

I offered him $60 and he passed, not surprised.

Palmer: I could definitely be interested.  The model 2 doesn't support S-Video though, right?  I think it has one or two other limitations if I recall correctly.

Ya, model 1 is alot better to me. (original unmodded)

Model 2 originally didn't have an on light and it only has the a/v cable hookup. The console is just smaller.

If you want shoot me a pm if you want it or pictures.

It's SOOOOO easy to mod a model 2 for S-vid and it has the BEST S-vid output, hands down.  NOBODY that has half a clue will contest that.  Totally worth it IMO.  It's even super easy to add a power indicator light, since that's really the only other feature that's missing (well, the eject button, but that doesn't matter at all).

Look for broken units.  I've purchased 3 "broken" SNES jr systems and ALL of them worked either right out of the box or with a mild cleaning.  It's really hard to properly break them.  Even a bubble bath won't do it (as long as it's not plugged in while receiving said soothing bath :P).  I paid 10 shipped for one of them and it's come a long way to where it is today ;)

SNES jr - $10
Custom machined SNS-101 shell - $XXX (WAY closer to 1K than 100)
Having a mini SNES that's completely unique (for now at least) - Priceless!

Didn't even require a cleaning.  Was missing 2 of the screws that held the shell together.  I think the guy tried taking it apart with something other than a gamebit as the bottom half of the shell was sorta chewed up a little bit.  Don't know why he was trying to do so.  Maybe he was trying to do and SFC mod?

SNES phat units are really spotty when it comes to both composite and S-vid output.  The board revision that you have will GREATLY affect the output quality.  For instance, my launch SNES (with the big-ass audio chipset on the back of the board) has really miserable S-vid output.  The SNES mini composite out actually looks as good as, if not better than the launch console's S-vid output  :o

The last couple of revisions are markedly better, but none are quite as good as the mini (when modded).

I still havnt even finished my custom GameCube. It's a smooth, handle delete, dark pearl crimson and pearl black.

So I doubt I'll get to modding the snes 2 anytime soon lol. I really need a new soldering iron also, any suggestions? I was thinking of a weller needlepoint style with adjustable voltage but I don't know much about brands and what's versatile.

I honestly just have a RadioSlut 15V and 30V with a bin full o' tips.  I've never needed anything else and I (obviously) do a pretty good amount of modding.
