I vote 4, as it's directed by Finnish director Renny Harlin, and I had the movie poster on my door for years.

You missed "Wes Craven's New Nightmare".

Still part of the original series with Robert Englund. Also the Darkest one in my opinion.

I voted for the 1st one, but it's a close call between the 1st and 3rd for me.

The first was an incredible film for me growing up - kinda got me into the whole slasher film genre.  The 2nd was a huge disappointment.  I was pretty much over it by the time i saw the 4th though.

He left it out on purpose, as the doesn't concider it part pof the canon.

Well, I am sitting here watching the end of Wes Craven's New Nightmare.  Anyone ever watch the credits on movies?  They always have that disclaimer at the end.  No joke, this is what Wes Craven's New Nightmare says:

"Some parts of this motion picture were inspired by actual events.  Others may be attributed to the overactive imagination of a five-year-old boy.... The names of certain of the characters portrayed have been changed to protect the innocent.  Certain incidents portrayed have been dramatized.  With the exclusion of those courageous individuals who portrayed themselves, any similarity to the name, character or history of any person, living or dead, is entirely coincidental and unintentional."

Watch the credits....  That is too much!
