Thoughts on Zelda OOT & MM

tbonesteak4dinner:
You clearly have absolutely no concept of "odd" so I'll let your little jab slide. :D

Majora's Mask is possibly put together a little better than Ocarina. You'll find it's pretty short though. The mini quests (i.e. getting the masks) are where Majora's Mask shines, in addition to the overall aesthetic - the imagery in MM is STUNNING. You left a lot of the extras incomplete with Ocarina, so I'd really urge you to complete MM to 100%. The beauty of this game is in the details, if you blow through it then it'll go too fast and you'll miss out on what makes it a great game.
Arseen:
Yep. After you figure out how to maipulate time. Majora's Mask comes very good.

I think part of the excentriness of MM is explained by:

Ocarina of Time was originally suppose to come out on 64DD and was suppose to be way larger and have real time events thanks to 64DD's internal clock.
Then the 64DD got abandoned.
OoT got shortened and real time events were forced to be left out.

And Nintendo just didn't want to throw the scraps away so they made MM out of the stuff.

That is my theory, how correct I don't know.

Close, the Ura Zelda for the 64DD became Master Quest.

Majora's Mask was actually a rushed project. Ocarina of Time did so well that Nintendo pushed for a sequel to capitalize on Ocarina's success. The Majora's Mask development team (same team from Ocarina) was given only 18 months (IIRC) to make another complete Zelda game, and so the only way that this was feasible was by reusing a ton of content from Ocarina. Thus why Majora's Mask uses most of the same player models and reuses the same engine. They're the only two Zelda games to share a single engine.

Nope, the URA zelda was going to be much more.
Supposedly 2 new tunics, 2 new dungeons, 2 new medallions, time related events, ocarina stones, ....

We can only hope that some day someone manages to obtain the URA Zelda, maybe finish it and release it as 64DD disc. We can only hope.

--------------------

Edit: Sorry I confused Ura Zelda and what OoT was supposed to originally be.
tbonesteak4dinner:
What I meant was everything they had finished so far for Ura Zelda became Master Quest.

The extra Dungeons, Tunics, and Medallions were all planned, but had not yet been actually worked on (as far as we know).

I agree, it'd be awesome if that content got finished and was released in the future. Maybe as a new console remake of Ocarina?  ;D
