Thoughts on Zelda OOT & MM

Final score: 8 or 9 out of 10
Pros:
-The world and most of the story was interesting and engrossing.
-A lot of fun and well thought out puzzles
-A lot of content, with side quests and hidden items, and the rewards for most of them were helpful.
Cons:
-Disappointing boss battles.
-Some puzzles and tasks seem like they are there to waist your time.
-Some puzzles defied logic, and the game gives you no help to fugue them out.
-Other small things here and there, read the 4 pages.

i have been playing The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the first time over the last 3 days or so. This is so far the farthest I have gotten in a Zelda game, I have played Most of them, never got that far. I have played Wind Waker and Twilight Princess more than the older ones, because I own them, the others were on a emulator. Back to OOT, I started it a long time ago, but got stuck when I could not find Zora's domain. I found it after a friend told me where it was. So far I am enjoying it a lot but there are a few things I want to vent so I am starting a thread.
I have not beaten the game yet, but here is how far I am. am adult Link and I beat the Fire and Forest temples. I was just in the bottom of the well, but did not beat it, I also screwed around in the Ice cave. Try not to spoil anything that happens after this.
Now here are my thoughts, lets get the negative out of the way first.
WHAT I HATE
THE CAMERA SUCKS. The camera in this game is very annoying, Why can't I control it outside of centering it behind link? The D-pad is not used at all, why not use that? It is to close to link a lot of the time, or just in a awkward position. Its very annoying in many areas.
The game is pretty repetitive. It feels like I am doing the same thing over and over. The same enemies are reused way to mush. The stupid flying bats, the wall spiders, the hanging spiders, ect. The most annoying are the ones that shoot stuff and you have to stand still and deflect it with your shield. These are the most annoying mostly because they art the most boring because they require no movement, just sit there with your shield out. Way to many of the bosses require you to run around in a circle. the ways you attack them are different but almost every boss is Attack them while they are vulnerable, Run around in a circle evading their attack and wait for them to become vulnerable, when they do Attack an repeat. A lot of puzzles get repeated to. Probably the most overused is play a ocarina song, Zelda's Lullaby is probably used the most. Most of the time it tells you what song to use and you use it and you win! I feel like I am saying "Oh, this again" way to many times.
Some puzzles feel like they are just there to waist time. The ones I am talking about are so easy, they are pointless. One that comes to mind is one the Forest temple. There is a blue block in front of a door. Navi tells you to play the song of time. You play the song of time. It's gone. PUZZLE! There is another in the Fire temple, where there is fire at the bottom of a chain wall, and a switch that gets rid of it. The first time you encounter it, it was a good puzzle and it takes some thought to get rid of it., But the one I am talking about is the second time you encounter it. The second time is easier, You go up a wall and hit the switch with something. But the irritating thing is it was in the middle of a path to get up from a area where you fall down. I fell down a lot because the task was to walk along a thin path, and for one reason of another I fell of of it and fell down a big hole that set me back a bit. So I went through that pointless puzzle a lot. Each time slightly more frustrated. Also puzzle were if you fail set you back to another place are annoying. There was a room in the bottom of the well that you fall through parts of the floor. There was no indication what part of the floor you can fall through, so it was trial and error every time. I kinda though it was interesting at first when I entered the place, but after 10-15 times it got old. Can I go this way? No, I fell through the floor, gatta go back. Can I go this way? Yes ok. Now lets ho here. No Fell through, gatta go back up that long latter and try again. I eventually said "F*ck it" and left to try again later.
Links jump is also annoying at times. Expectantly when going along a narrow path, if you turn slightly the wrong way, Link goes flying. Sometimes he does not jump far enough, sometimes to far. The reason I had to do that part in the Fire temple Over and over again was because of it. There was a small ledge to get town to the stairs, and 1/2 the time link would jump incited of just falling down and go down the hole before even getting to the stairs.
Hyrule field is a bit to big, It takes a long time to get from one area to another and it is boring to just run in a strait line with no obstacles.
There are a few other things, mostly involving combat and Z-targeting, but lets get on to the things I like before someone kills me.
WHAT I LIKE
The think I love most about the game is the atmosphere. Hyrule is a fun world to be in. The level desighn and everything is just amazing. The game can also be scary when t needs to be. when I first came out of the Temple Of Time after I when back to the future and went to what used to be a lively town and it was in runes and full of zombies I was creeped out and sad. I was also playing at night and I have surround sound so that helped. Also going back to the town after and talking to people, some of the things they said in retrospect enhanced it, like the guard who says he wishes something bad would happen because it was boring. The environment are just fun to run around in and i liked seeing how the world changed in 7 years, minus the Kiroki village. How do they not age? How are more made if they do not age? Are they born that size, because that sounds very painful.
The graphics have held up pretty well too. Some things look bad, mostly forest type areas. But some still looks good. Jabba Jabba's belly looks very cool, and indore areas look good too. Character models are not to bad also. The grate fairy creeps me out a bit and Gannondorf looks silly from the front though.
Probably my favorite boss battle so far was the one with Gannon and the paintings. It took me a bit to figure out what to do after the part where he jumped out of the paintings, and I used up all my items, but to hit back his spell with your sward is fun, Especially when he hits it back and it becomes the most epic and intense match of pong ever. The fire temple boss is fun too. It was a giant game of Wack a Mole, or dragon in that case.
I have to say I am really loving the game so far, even with all its flaws. I feel like I am not saying everything I like about it, but I guess the worst aspects stick more with you. I would probably give it a 8 or 9 out of 10. I am playing it on the N64 with the gold cart. I hear some problems have been fixed on the 3DS, but I do not own a 3DS yet.
Up next I am to the Water temple, and I hear that is hard, so wish me luck.

I like ocarina of Time, it's my second favorite after LttP. Altough the LttP hacks are dropping it to the 4th place.
As for camera trouble, remember that they just started making the 3D games and not all bugs were yet fixed. Also for missed jumps: Learn to aim better. Link does quite precise auto jumping but sometimes you shouldn't run full tilt.
From this (and your profile ;D) I can see that you are so called new wave gamer for who (no offence) any challenge is bad and any tiny flaw is game breaking and permanently ending glitch. Again no offence...

Get epona = no running. Also you can use the warp songs.

Arseen is right 100%....if your in the water temple and don't have Epona by now GO GET HER.
If you don't like the speed of Link's walk/run then step it up and get that horse.
As far as your dislike of the D-Pad not being used (im going to assume your playing the 64 version)....try swapping from the D-Pad to the analog stick quickly in a fight or something while Z targeting.

Most of the complants are small gripes, gust small irritations. As I said, I so far love the game, It is so far pretty easy, Most bosses I beat on the first try. I looked at a guide once of twice but mostly it turned out to be something I overlooked or was on the right track but was missing one small thing. One time was in the Forest temple, where you had to shoot arrows at the paintings, I tried it up close up but they went away when I looked at them so I thought it was scenery. I have gotten good at the jumping, It works when you need it to, but my main problem is when you do not want to jump. I was in the fire temple and i went all the way to the top, jumped of the platform and fell down a hole taking me to the room with the boss door, but that was also me not paying much attention.
I new you can get Epona, I got a boxed figure of Link riding Epona on the shelf I hold my retro games, but I have not figured it out yet. I screwed around the ranch a bit but I did not figure it out yet. The game does not force you to go to the field that much, mostly after you finish one big task at one area. It was a very small complaint.
One thing I forgot to mention on what I like is the feeling of progression, winch is enhanced by the repetitive obstacles. Having to evade the attacks from that big guy in front of the Forest temple to just using arrows and shooting him in the face. Going from having to battle the hanging big spiders with your sward, and trying to get them to spin so you kill them, and then getting the hookshot and just one hit killing them from a far makes it feel like you are progressing. The hook shot makes killing enemies a bit to easy because it stuns most of them and pulls them towards you. The mini boss in the fire temple who is the small guy who jumps in the fire to get a big body is way to easy because the hook shot can make him skip his attack. and then you just need to keep him locked on while he is running and go back and forth hitting him when he is running in a circle.
I know the camera was not perfected, but Super Mario 64 had a good camera. Most fights the Z targeting works fine for the camera, but my main gripe is when you are running around sometimes it is at a awkward angle and you might miss something because of it. On the floating pieces of ice that lead to the ice cave, the camera goes realty close to link and it is hard to see the platforms around you. And I got big hands so I hold the controller by the left grip, not the center, but I go understand not everyone does. And yes I am playing a gold cart on the N64.
Just a small story here, when I was in middle school a few years ago I had a real ocarina. Not quite sure why because I was not that into Zelda yet but I had one. I was a trombone player in music because my school forced us to be in a music class and I got stuck with that. I was able to switch to the Ocarina, which was awesome, but my teacher hated the sound of it. She said it sounded like there was a bird in the room so she made me not play because it annoyed her. I just kinda sat there while others were practicing. I sucked at music anyway so it was ok. We did not even have correct sheet music, I played of of flute sheet, I think.

Parts of this thread are pure blasphemy so I will choose to ignore those larry. My advice is just stick with it, the game is really fun and gets better later on in my opinion. Water temple is by far the hardest (especially if you are trying to avoid using a guide) so be prepared to spend some time in there! You will need Epona eventually so it might not hurt to get her sooner rather than later.
Best piece of advice I can give you is after you are done with OoT, START Majora's Mask! That game is also one of my favorites :D
