Hidden gems?
gru3som3rick:
So I just recently picked up some games: Heavenly Guardian (Wii for $1) & Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (360 for $3). Never heard of the games before seeing them in a Goodwill and both received average to below average reviews, but I really enjoyed both games quite a bit! I'm sure there's probably been a thread like this before, but I'm interested in recommendations from you guys about relatively cheap/obscure games that went under the radar because of the reviews. Another game I'm considering picking up is Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon - it seems to have a small following of people who actually really loved it regardless of the reviews.

Off the top of my head Haunting Starring Polterguy on the Sega Genesis comes to mind right away as a hidden gem. It doesn't seem to get much fanfar, but I think it's one of the more unique and certainly one of the more fun vintage games out there.
I'd also suggest B.O.B., The Lost Vikings, Chuck Rock (both of them), and DeCapAttack on the Genesis as well. They might not be the most critically acclaimed or well know titles, but I sure found them fun as all heck.

I love me some Haunting, B.O.B., Lost Vikings and DeCap Attack! I'm looking up prices on Chuck Rock now! Looks really fun, but I heard it's pretty difficult.

If you're into decap attack, then check out Marvel Land for the JP Mega Drive. Really, REALLY similar.

Yeah, they aren't the easiest games in the world. I found Chuck Rock II: Son of Chuck a bit easier than the original, but was eventaully able to beat both. Price wise they aren't bad at all. I got both on eBay for right around $9 each (with shipping) complete and in great condition.
