In my own personal opinion, Doom it a lousy game and sacrificing it to make a Starfox 2 cart is perfectly ok with me.  The way I see it, there are only so many people that are ever going to purchase/make repros.  I think it would be pretty hard to put a serious dent in the total production of Doom or most an other SNES game that finds itself in the hands of a repro maker.

The lesson to be learned from this?  Buy a few doom carts, bag em up, and wait for the prices to rise. Lol.

The NHL games were some of my favourite games of all time on the megadrive -  I know they rehashed it and re-released it every year.  But in my opinion you can definitely hack away at my doom cart over any of my nhl's

You're talking to a guy who still owns and plays NHL '96 for the Genesis on a regular basis!  On that front, I couldn't agree more - I do enjoy it more than the SNES Doom, by a wide margin.

Even though the SNES port of Doom isn't perfect (honestly, it's not too far away from lousy, like Wiggy said) I still hate to see it cannibalized for its red cartridge and Super FX 2 innards.  I wish there were another way!!!

Harp00nX:

Probably get some stick for this but Doom is a dull game on any format, completely overrated even back in the 90s. I've never liked it and never will, hack them to hell and back I say!

JDavis:

I love Doom, but the SNES version is....  :-\
