| Storage of original cases? |

After browsing this forum and looking at people's photo's of their collections, I've started wondering about what people do with the original boxes/cases of their games. Now, I know that newer gen stuff will most likely stay in their original cases seeing as how it's easy enough to transfer the art/manual/disc into a new replacement case, but what about older stuff like nes/snes/genesis/etc/etc? Do you still store the game in it's original box and put it on the shelf? Or do you keep the original box stored away somewhere and use the UGC's with the custom art work? Also, with special editions on the newer gen stuff like tin cases/special boxes do you keep those stored away also? Personally, I still have all of my games in the original boxes (well for the most part starting from the genesis era...NES boxes and most GBA boxes have been thrown out :( ) but I see that the boxes are starting to wear out. But with games that came in special packaging like tin cases and/or special boxes I tend to remove the game and stick it into a generic case and print out the retail artwork of the standard edition. So just curious on what everyone else does... |

I collect just the carts usually. It's too expensive for me to buy stuff CIB and I find the case and artwork combo to be a much more durable and cheaper alternative to finding the original cardboard box in good condition. New gen games (PS1 era and up) come in more durable packaging so I try and collect those complete. |

What about the older gen games that you already have CIB? I mean with the NES my boxes went in the garbage...at the time I was too young to really understand and my parents thought it was just a waste of space and unnecessary. But when I got my genesis, I started understanding and caring more about keeping things as mint as possible. But what I'm getting at is what do you do with the older gen games that you already have CIB? Do you take the cartridge out of it's original box and store it in a UGC? or put it on the shelf as is and only use UGC's for the games you don't have the original box for? |

I have a shelf with most of my NES, SNES, N64, GBC, and GBA boxes. My Mario 1, 2 & 3 boxes are on display, along with Pro Wrestling and Duck Hunt. My Genesis clamshells are stashed somewhere, I'm currently using the covers in my UGCs because I haven't printed my covers yet, I have spine carts with the name. |

Then my parents sold all my stuff when I was in high school and I got back into gaming after college. I do have a few SNES games CIB which mingle with my UGC cased SNES games. I kind of want it uniform so I'll eventually sell / trade my boxes for carts |
