Is there any way to set up a small section of booklets anywhere on the site, or is there one out there in the ether already that you guys can recommend?

Making the games look all pretty on the outside is a fantastic thing that TCP really helps with, I just wish there was a way to re-print manuals/booklets for most games to have them, in a way at least, completed.

Any thoughts?

Having such section would lead people abusing it, which might endanger our site.

Yeah, I'm kind of with Arseen on this one.  Having covers is one thing, since that's just for storage and making the games look pretty on a shelf and nobody's going to try and pass off a printed cover as a real box, but having manuals in high printable quality online would make it too easy to be repro-ed (not that it isn't happening already).

Besides, manual hunting is half the fun and challenge of this hobby!  Well, for me at least. :p

I'm actually in the process of making some custom ones. The real manuals on eBay or where ever are usually not in great quality and if they are they are more expensive than the games sometimes. Just started so it's nothing fancy but I figured if I made some custom ones myself I can shrink them a bit so they fit in the UGC case. Here are a few examples of the covers, haven't done the inside yet.

2 * Super Metroid.
2 * Lagoon.

2 * Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
Many * Link to the Past
DK country 1-3

What would it cost me to acquire the IoG one, Arseen?

The reason I'm interested in a manual database is mainly for the maps/secrets that are originally in the manuals that are of great help when you play the game, and since some of the manuals are quite hard to get a hold of, it would just be really useful. I understand the abuse-concern though. Sigh.

If you need a Sega system, there's a good chance I have it covered already:

Arseen, if you have a stash of Genesis manuals, let me know.  I posted in a few places (here, SegaAge, DigitPress, etc) seeing if anyone was interested in helping me build a full Genesis set (or at least close to it) to scan in, though, received no response at all.  I'd even be up to covering shipping costs both ways if someone had a huge pile of Genesis manuals and wanted them back after scanning.

Thank you, TSOLfan! That's great! Now I'm just waiting for somebody to coherse into making a manual list for SNES/NES at some point.

I have many manuals, Including DKC2, Illusion Of Gaia + posters, Super Mario World, GODS, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, Super Mario Bros 1,2 & 3 and more.
I am not scanning the entire 85 page Gaia manual, and I do not think I can get it to go flat for a scanner, and I am NOT removing the staples, the thing is in like new condition, but i can probably take pictures of the inside for reference of a rebuild, or scan the front.

The longest manual across all of the systems I've done complete scans for was Eternal Champions for Sega CD (right at 70 pages).  It wouldn't go completely flat on the first few or last few pages, though, everything still turned out quite nice (at least I thought so):

Gaia's manual is anomalous in that it is not only a manual, but also a strategy guide and walkthrough all in one.  It tells the location of all the red jewels as well as step-by-step how to beat the game.  I have no idea why Enix did this and I can't think of another game that does this.  It's no wonder the thing is so many pages long.

The Wizardry manuals for NES are also rather thick, as are most of the Koei games (although these aren't full-height manuals like Wizardry).

Also, I haven't removed a single staple, and most of my manuals are like new, if not new, and no manual has been damaged by scanning that I can tell (other than Baku Baku for Sega Saturn that I didn't realize had a curled page that became a fold when I scanned), though, I can't say the same for my scanner (MediaFire currently tells me I have 9960 scans (almost 20,000 pages) uploaded across 732 games, and my scanner glass is starting to look a bit rough these days).

If you check out my scans, I think you'll agree that removing staples isn't required to get quality scans for preservation.

I'd gladly start SNES and N64 myself, though, I only kept a core set of favorite games for each (about 60 per console) and sold off the extra games quite some time ago (and extra manuals finally earlier this year).
