Although earlier this month or late last month (I can't remember) I did pick up

Gears of War 3
Resistance 3
Assassins Creed: Revelations
Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City

All 4 of them for 50 bucks since 2 of them were on sale for 10 bucks and the other 2 were 15

All of those games are crap, unfortunately. Don't let the media fool you into thinking otherwise.

Damn, dude!  A bit harsh, eh?  When did Gear of War break into your house and kill a puppy?

You know, we are entitled to our OWN opinions about what we buy without having to be told that it's total crap (or too expensive).

Just so busy all the time.  Plus, I've got a friend going through a nasty divorce and home foreclosure.  In fact, he has 20 days to vacate the dwelling or they'll do it for him.  Been helping him a LOT lately, and boy does he need it.  I just fixed one of his cars today that was a freakin' mess.  Took all day.  At least he can sell it now and get some $$$.

Think of it this way, if I spent more time gaming, then I'd spend a lot less time making covers and coming up with oddball ideas for the gamer world ;)

I suppose it all depends on what you like. I play an hour of some of the newer shooters and I am done for a while. Play a game like skyrim, kingdoms of amalur (both of which I got platinum trophies on, so add up those hours) or xenoblade and next thing I know its 4am. Im even worse with mmos in the past. Now sure, I love me some mario but back in the snes days when for a while I only had like 3 games I beat super mario world just about once a week and now I play mario games when I don't have long to spare or when I know it might be a while since I play again, thats the best part, easy to pick up and play.

To each their own i guess

I've just never been a fan of quest-based rpgs, I guess. Hate WRPGs with a burning passion. JRPGs and SRPGs on the other hand.... forget about it!

Maybe it is a matter of taste, but that still doesn't mean Xenoblade isn't overrated as hell. It's in the same niche as Earthbound, in terms of overrated-ness(Both are also published by Nintendo... might have something to do with it, I dunno).

Fair enough. What continues to truly captivate me in Xenoblade is the world and the settings, which seem so vast in scope and stretch on for miles. I'm the type of person who gets the itch to explore every nook and cranny and experience everything that it has to offer. After I finish with this though, I actually plan on returning to some more traditional RPGs that have been sitting on my shelf for far too long that I have yet to play.

Like any type of experience, what matters most is the individual's opinion. I wouldn't consider the game overrated, but like you said, it's a matter of taste.

(to continue our off-topic thread)

It's definitely a matter of opinion.  I'm sometimes looking for just the opposite of you Pikmin Overlord.  Games like Oblivion can turn me off due to their vastness.  I have about 2 hours logged, put it down and haven't picked it back up.  I guess it's just something about the sheer scope that makes me feel a bit lost and confused and as I like to try and complete all the tasks put forth to me it just feels daunting.  On the other hand, a lot of folks hated the linear nature of FFXIII and that was the first modern retail game that I got 100% achievements on...played it to death.
