July 2005 from the info that I found...whether it's right or wrong I can't say :\  It was 1 of 4 covers that they had in that issue...and from what I read the 2nd time they had released their own versions of covers for games.

And yes..."Damn intrawebz" is right!  I can't find that cover anywhere on there :( lol just a very small bit of info

Bonus points to anyone who knows where this cover comes from :)

There are only 2 actual US retail covers, Players Choice and Original release.  You can't depict the color gold on a monitor or TV screen, and gold was used on the actual covers, so yellow/brown gets used instead to get the point across.  It's known as a "spot color".  It cannot be reproduced with traditional CMYK printing, so it's added as a 5th color in the printing process and adds significant cost, which is why you don't see spot colors used more often.  Same goes for day-glow/fluorescent, other metallics, and colors that simply cannot be reproduced using CMYK.

Would you be willing to scan in that cover if you havn't already? I really like it.

Sure!

I couldn't help but clean it WAY up.  Added vector logos and such, plus a clean, high res version of the Wind Waker logo instead of the scanned image. Basically all that's left of the scan is the image in the center LOL! I used the cover from the site for the rest since I didn't want to bother scanning the original too.  The scan that EGM did for the part that's still retail is total shit, so scanning a scan seemed like a dumb idea :P  Hope you like!

I'm a little late to the party but I actually have that issue. It also had a god of war cover iirc
