I'm pretty amped about it, no doubt. I remember when the first images started popping up the the web everyone thought it was a spoof.  I definitely didn't think it was more than somebody's handiwork with Photoshop and a few images of an iPhone 4 and a 3DS. I'm happy it isn't :)

Let's just hope that more than those 20 pre-loaded titles will trickle down the pipeline shortly after launch. Those are some great games, but they are all really OLD titles.

I had extremely low expectations for this initially, not the least of which because of the price and that early pics made it look much like one of the typical Chinese-manufactured emulator-filled handhelds.... But now it's shaping up nicely.

Personal hopes: That the joystick is clicky like the Neo Geo Pocket's and that the dock's controller port is the same as the AES (because it would be a nice touch if the controllers were compatible)

This will be produced by BLAZE so except extremly low build quality and besides I can't understand the hype. This is nothing more than an expensive overpriced Neo Emulator with some bells and whistles and SNK support cause they need the cash.

NOTHING like owning the real thing!

Agree with everything Tik says on this - but seeing as i don't yet own a Neo Geo of any description, i will probably pick one up.

I am pretty sure i read last week that it's compatible with Neo controllers.

Also, I actually quite like the Blaze Megadrive and Master system ones i have as novelty items,  although the screens are not the best.

I agree totally- having the real, old school, giant  NEO GEO setting on your shelf would be impressive and something to be proud about.  I have the Neo Geo collections on PS2 and PSP and its not the same.  But the prices they are still fetching these days are ridiculous.  If this thing is decent it would be a little easier to justify spending 200 than the amount it would take to get the actual system and those 20 games- so i guess it depends if you just want to experience those games and have fun playing them or just be a collector.  That being said the NEO GEO Gold will always be the holy grail of my video game collecting addiction- maybe someday- maybe both  ;)

Except for Metal Slug the included titles are all affordable irl as well.

You can get a loose jp Neo for almost the same money with one cheap game.

I actually think some hardware nerd on N-G.com once tried to actually build a "portable" NGH monster.

Something tells me that either Ben Heck or one of his proteges has tackled that already.  Those guys will tackle ANYTHING along those lines!

That said, most of that stuff is god awful ugly.  They've got the engineering process down, but aesthetics and ergonomics are entirely overlooked.
