I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure I have the both Greatest Hits version and the version with the demo disc which I know isn't much help to you.

So the original game was released on the Dreamcast (without the X). Then in 2002, the first PS2 version came out, with the Devil May Cry demo. In 2002, it became Greatest Hits (without the demo). The plain version wasn't out until 2007, in this collection:
