Hey guys, last summer I started working on my mega huge top 100 NES games list, and now I'm currently writing another top 100 list and this time the subject is the original GameBoy and also the GameBoy Color, but NOT GameBoy Advance - that will be it's own thing. The original Xbox list I was considering earlier will be coming at a later time. I'll still be doing it, but it's just taking a backseat until I fill some gaps in my collection of games that I haven't played that everyone raves about.

For GB/GBC, I have already created a top 100 'beta' list of games to cover, but I know there are some real GameBoy enthusiasts here on The Cover Project likely equally as passionate as I am about Nintendo's 8-bit portable wonder.

Therefore, I'd like to turn suggestions over to you guys. Maybe there are obscure European or Japanese games I've not thought of? I've gone over the GB/GBC romset several times already, but there's a chance I might have missed some true gems to share with not only the entire retro gaming community my blog attracts, but also here on RacketBoy and on many other retro forums as well.

I can't promise I'll agree to place y game in x position, but I will seriously consider every recommendation that I haven't already thought of for the list.

So let me know what you think should be on the list! The more obscure it is, the greater the chances that I haven't already considered and/or placed it somewhere on the list to begin with. Games like Super Mario Land are obvious, but stuff like Kwirk - not so much.

If possible, a short explanation of why you feel your nommonie should make the list would be appreciated.

I will suggest these games.

Final Fantasy Adventure / Legends 1,2, and 3
What old school rpg enthusiast wouldn't suggest these?

Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening
Great jump for the Zelda games in my opinion. Especially for the old gameboy.

Kirby's Dreamland
The first GB game I owned and loved. Still have it also! :)

Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow
The warped beggining of a series that brainwashed kids in to capturing big animals in a cramped tiny ball squishing the shit out of them. Then mainly only relesed them long enough to beat the crap out of each other.
Also a good twist on a collecting type of game with major rpg elements.
These are also the only games for the gameboy that I've printed out covers for so far.

Tetris and Tetris 2
I don't know how many hours I've spent wasting a few minuits here and there just to pass the time with these games.

All of the Mega Man Games
Great platform games right here.

Battletoads
An extremely hard yet good platform game.

These are just a few that I have picked out of my personal collection... I'm sure there will be some that dissagree but I think they are all good games.

What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

The 2 games I can remember having the most lasting appeal to me all those years ago were of course the ubiquitous Tetris - for it's sheer addictive nature, and Double Dragon, which, while not a true to arcade conversion, blew me away with it's size, and playability on such a small machine.

thanks guys, everything mentioned so far is either on my beta list already or strong candidates for the final one. I dont want to reveal my list so early of course, but more suggestions are always welcome.

Lookin' forward to seeing this list, satoshi! I hope that we will also see a top 100 SNES games from you sometime in the future.

Also, thanks for the PM a couple of weeks ago relating to this topic!

Here are a couple of games that I remember enjoying.

Darkwing Duck - Gameplay that is as good as, if not slightly improved over, its NES counterpart (although yes, it does lack color).

Ducktales 2 - Enjoyable game with some new gameplay mechanics and level design not found on the NES version.

TMNT III: The Radical Rescue - A Metroid-style Turtles game. Not as good as something like Super Metroid, but maybe on part with Metroid 2? Perhaps worth a look.
