I always love the baby Nintendo systems!  The NES Top-Loader, the smaller SNES and now I am considering buying a baby wii.  Does anyone know if it is available in White in the United States?  I have seem images of a white baby wii on UK sites I think but does anyone know if there are any in the U.S.?

This is the baby Wii in white in the UK:

All I can find in the U.S, in black and Blue

Out of curiosity, why would you want that one?  The size is the same as previous versions and really the only differences is that this version they removed Gamecube compatibility.

But to answer the original question, here in the US we have a black, red and blue family version wii that I know of...although I would think that there is a white version, but i'm actually doubting myself since I don't really remember seeing one :\

-edit-
actually...not too sure about the red one now after doing a couple searches......

If it has "Wii" between the SD card slot and the Eject button, it will not play gamecube. I have seen a couple of these in the wild.

I think it turned out to be smaller after all... you'll also notice in that article it said it would be exclusive to Europe which was also false.  I have heard it is smaller.  I want it simply for the smaller size.

In another forum I visit, one of the members put up a picture of both wii's side by side to show the size comparison and even opened it up and talked about the differences.

The size was the same (maybe smaller by an insignificant amount) and the only difference was a bit of the internals which were gamecube related.  I can pm you the link to the other forum if you wish, since I don't know if linking in posts to other forums is allowed.

they just did what Sony did to lower the cost of the machine by removing backwards compatibility?

Precisely. There is nothing "slim" or "lite" or "baby" about it. It's just a cheap, neutered Wii (double entendre intended)

Well then are you saying the newer PS3 is no smaller than the PS3 that could play PS2 games?

Sony neutered the PS3 before they released the slim, so that isn't even a valid point

No it is important to me because I waited for the "slim" PS3...  Are they the same size or not?  If they are I want to go ebay shopping for an older one!

What Forte is saying is that Sony removed ps2 compatibility long before the slim version of the ps3 came out.  Only launch ps3's and maybe some models around the launch time frame had backwards compatibility.

But at the very least, Sony did make the slim version smaller and they also decided to go against the shiny plastic casing.

But let me know if you got my pm...I think i sent it fine, just not seeing it in my outbox.

I got your PM - I am no longer interested in the Baby Wii as it is not a Baby after all  :(

That's what I was trying to say. Sony made a Slim PS3 that was smaller, same with the Xbox 360 redesign and the DS to DS lite, they were made smaller without losing functionality. The "baby" Wii isn't smaller, it just lacks GameCube functionality, thus not making it a smaller console, just a neutered one.

And thus it is worthless and Nintendo should be ashamed of themselves since they still sell games like Mario Kart Wii which show you can use the GameCube controller.  Makes me sick!
