Hopefully a mod will clean it up.

Eh, most people would really not like that, mate.  It's one thing to speak about stuff like this, either for or against it, on a gaming message board with other gamers who are here to, well, discuss things about games, but it's quite another to preach to a perfect stranger about spending habits.  People who out of nowhere think they know how to live your life better than you do and will volunteer this information without being asked for it are a step more annoying than Jehovah's Witnesses (not the people who practice, the recruiters) and telemarketers.
I wouldn't say offering sensible advice to someone is the same as "preaching", at least in the sense many attribute to the term. I just don't get why so many are against the idea of any advice at all, rational or otherwise. Some may see it as annoying, and that's their right, but when you're not deliberately intent on offense, then you don't have to worry about reactions. I'm not a cruel person; I'm just not willing to abide by political correctness.

So you do this in every store where there are cheaper alternatives available?  Supermarkets, clothes stores, electronics stores, liquor store...
Not at every place, but that's mostly because I don't see such extreme charges at those places. I'm not a drinker, and my fashion sense is comfort over brand. I remember a few months ago, someone at my local Fry's was going to pay $50 or so for a movie boxset, and I told him another store had it for $15 less.

...the problem we all have is your expectation to get stuff from members at below market value, and your vociferous , undermining the opinions of those who choose to pay the market value, on multiple threads.
I'm sorry that you're upset by my comments, but I'm not responsible for your feelings. I haven't said anything to purposely undermine or threaten members here.

It's just being a dick,  and you are really annoying a number of people who have the ability to ban.  And just so you are aware, we ban at IP level, so you can't just set up a new account and start again.
I often find it both very sad and mildly amusing that whenever someone enters a forum with a notably different opinion, the reaction is often one of anger and hate. Individuals are often expected or threatened to remain silent, and when they don't, they're banned for no good reason.

The part of my post that you didn't quote did in fact say it wasnt a threat - I don't think any real member has ever been banned from here.  I have no problem with opinion which I also stated,  I have a problem with you spamming the boards with your 'opinion' that other members are stupid for buying things at market value, or are tryIng to rip people off by offering items for sale at market value.

Forte asked you multiple times to stop posting your opinion of his prices in his thread, yet you carried on, obviously trying to annoy him,  and now you are doing the same here.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, yes even you, and to some degree I agree that I wouldn't ever pay some of the prices that games go for, but if I have no intention of buying from someone's thread, I don't post on it.

Why not start your own thread on what you see as games which have become overpriced?

This is a close knit non-confrontational community with a shared passion for games, if this is what you want to be part of, then just play nice,  if not,  you know where the door is - please shut it on the way out.

Oh, and what you are misconceiving as anger and hate, is in fact exasperation.

I am also not 'upset' by your comments, I am upset by war, animal cruelty and poverty amongst other things, but certainly not by comments about a fucking video game.

Just because something is priced as "normal" or "acceptable", that doesn't make it right. I think anyone paying more for a single game than an entire system is making a foolish choice.

I honestly must've missed that. I know others were irritated with me there, but I don't recall any requests from him personally. If that's the case, I apologize.

I asked Forte at least once if he sold cart-only copies, but when i saw the prices were still high, I asked a few questions.

Good idea, but it'd be a fairly long list.

What's so inherently wrong or evil about respectful confrontation?

This is why we can't have nice things....
You two should start your own thread so I can actually get to reading this one  :P

Although I do have to say, reading a thread where multiple people argue about the moral obligations of video game cartridge prices is probably one of the most hilarious things I've seen lately. There's no right or wrong in any sort of collector's market because right and wrong are decided by each individual buyer. If some dude came up to me in the video game store and started to tell me I shouldn't buy a game because he thought it was overpriced I'd probably just stare back blankly with my head tilted slightly to the left and then walk to the register without saying a word.  ;D
I'm looking for vol. 2, 4, and 5 of the Orchestral Game Music Concert CDs. I'll pay well if it's authentic and doesn't skip. :)

Aaaaand now to get this thread back on track and actually contribute. My most prized video game would be my Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time gold cart. It's not the most valuable game or system that I own (not even close), but it's my most prized personally.

I know this isn't too exciting for the hard core collectors around here, but ever since I had the game back when it came out I always wanted to find a gold cart and beat the game on it. I overpaid by a bit, but just because this one was near mint - I knew it was "my cart" when I saw the auction. ;) Ended up being just under $40 with shipping, so still not too bad. I then used the Nayru's Love glitch outside of the Fire Temple to crash the game, get to the debug menu, and then verify that the cart was 1.0 (The vast majority of gold carts are, but I wanted to be sure  :D).

I originally wanted to find a CIB version, but the problem with those bundles is that either the cart or box is usually in crap shape. So, since the game itself is way more important to me I decided to spring for a mint cart, and wait for a good condition box whenever it rolls around.

I was 18 when "Ocarina of Time" first came out, and I remember renting it from a local Hollywood Video. I probably racked up about $60 in fines by keeping it so long, and I don't remember if I paid it off before they went out of business (I hope so).

Speaking of beating the game, do you remember the way to get the most powerful sword? It inflictwice as much damage as the Master Sword, but you can't kill Ganon with it.

That would be the reward of the adult Link's trading quest.  I believe it starts with the egg you get from Malon but it's been a while since I last played.

Yeah WolfAlmighty got it. It's Biggoron's Sword which is part of a huge trading quest and at one point you need to wait three days for him to finish it (or use the Sun's Song). I think you need to get the Giant's Knife first and then break it, but there might be a way to skip that part. I remember the first time I broke the Giant's Knife. I just about crapped myself because I didn't know that was possible in a video game at that time. Surprises like that are some of the many reasons why I love Zelda...

That's awesome that you kept renting the game - I borrowed it from a friend and didn't get too far before I had to return it. My parents got it for me for my next birthday and I couldn't put it down. It took forever to beat because I was only allowed an hour a day playing video games when I was younger, hahaha.

I could just sit all day looking at that beauty!  :-*

Thanks! Yeah it has a special place of honor on my gaming shelf - top, front and center. I'll be posting pics of my setup in a few days too.
