This is a forum, not a country.  Freedom of expression is NOT a given here, the same as it wouldn't be in somebody's house, a restaurant, or any other privately owned property/space, virtual or physical.
Well, it should be. I don't understand why so many people tend to get angry just because someone tries to peacefully yet firmly disagree with them.

If we were in a shop together and I had just spent $100 on a game, would you immediately come over and site my purchase as foolish?  I really, REALLY doubt it.  So maybe doing so here isn't the best plan either.
If I saw someone forking over $80 for a game, you bet I'd speak up. There's a difference between speaking your mind, and ramming it down another's throat; I try not to avoid the latter, but silence isn't the only alternative.

If I was in a store buying a game that cost $80 or more (which I have done before and probably will again) and had someone come up to me to tell me that my purchase was "foolish" I'll be honest...I wouldn't see that as someone "speaking their mind".  I'd instead see that as someone being an ass or possibly even jealous.  Yes we all do have our opinions on the matter, but one thing that nobody likes is being told what they can spend their hard earned money on.  If they worked hard, saved and chose to buy whatever game, even if it cost them 1k, who are you to call them foolish or criticize the purchase as foolish?  It's not your money so you're or anyone else's opinion doesn't mean anything.

Nobody is on here criticizing your game purchases, so why criticize any one elses?  Everyone's budget is different, some more then others but if it's what they want and what they work for then more power to them.

It should be what, a country?!  A given?  What are you, like 10 years old or something?

"Peacefully" insult people?  You're an asshole, plain and simple (FYI, I'm not "peacefully" calling you an asshole.  I'm calling you an asshole because you act like an asshole and I don't like you).

You wouldn't say a fucking thing, and if you did, you're an even BIGGER asshole and you might just get bitch-slapped for it.  If that's not ramming your opinion (that nobody gives a shit about) down someone's throat, then I don't know what is.

Took the words right out of my mouth Wiggy. I can't tell if he is a troll or does not know when to shut up.
You could get things cheeper, but its harder to find someone who does not care about it and let it go for cheeper. That Ocarina of time cart you got for $20$, I got for $0.50. I got a $100 Goldstar 3DO for $30, I got lucky. I even get a lot of things free from people. You can hunt around for a good deal, but some things are rare and hard to find for $1 at a tag sale, so you have to pay what it is worth if you want it so much, if not you can wait for a deal, but on a lot of things you are going to wait a long time.

Exactly.  If you put a 20 dollar cap on your per-game budget, well, you're gonna miss out on a LOT of really great stuff.

Actually, I'm 31, and I was talking about freedom of speech. It was considered common courtesy for people to speak their minds, so long as their comments weren't malicious in nature.

I wasn't insulting people, just criticizing their choices. By calling me names, you're proving one of my points, in that the new "tolerance" mindset tolerates everything except intolerance. Just because you put up with something or someone, it doesn't mean you can't have an individual viewpoint, not does it mean you're required to stay silent about it.

My cap is around $30 for a lose cart, unless its a game I really want, but I can not think of any over $50 that I want at the moment, minus Super Mario RPG, Conker's Bad Fur Day & Earthbound, maybe Plumbers Don't Were Ties. There are probably more.

Wow, was certainly not expecting this discussion when I clicked on this thread. :p

If I was in a store, and someone in front of me was shelling out a large amount of cash for something, I'd try to start up a conversation about why they're doing it. I'd suggest alternatives, but the choice is always theirs.

Eh, most people would really not like that, mate.  It's one thing to speak about stuff like this, either for or against it, on a gaming message board with other gamers who are here to, well, discuss things about games, but it's quite another to preach to a perfect stranger about spending habits.  People who out of nowhere think they know how to live your life better than you do and will volunteer this information without being asked for it are a step more annoying than Jehova's Witnesses (not the people who practice, the recruiters) and telemarketers.

So you do this in every store where there are cheaper alternatives available?  Supermarkets, clothes stores, electronics stores, licquor store.........  'hey there, why are you buying those Nike air's for $150  don't you know you can get some trainers from walmart for $10 or you could get some second hand ones on eBay' - likely to get a punch in the face.  I really do think you are just being a dick for the sake of it now.  Nobody here has a problem with your opinion that you don't want to spend alot on old carts, and you wish you could get them all cheap - the problem we all have is your expectation to get stuff from members at below market value, and your vociferous , undermining the opinions of those who choose to pay the market value, on multiple threads.   It's just being a dick,  and you are really annoying a number of people who have the ability to ban.  And just so you are aware, we ban at IP level, so you can't just set up a new account and start again.

That's not a threat of a ban, just a heads up if you thought you could wipe the slate clean and start again.  Maybe just go have some quiet time, and then think a little before you start spamming another thread.

I would imagine this thread will be cleaned up in the next day or 2, and put back on track.
